marijuana can't be THAT bad if they prescribe it to people! Seriously. I wish people would get over the "Oh my GOD, marijuana is sooo bad for you! Think of all the side effects!".... I'm sure if there was a survey done through out the world, people would fall over from the amount of people who smoke pot. I have met some old pot heads, and the only problem they have is that their OLD. At least it's not like cocaine or any other harsh drug...!!!

No, marijuana is a waste of time and money when it is used as a recreational drug. It may have some benefits when prescribed by a doctor for certain conditions like to alleviate side effects from chemotherapy or to help with glaucoma, but the only benefit it has as a recreational drug is to make a boring life seem better which is a drug induced deception. It may not be as harmful as alcohol, but a person who uses marijuana to "feel better" about their life is avoiding taking real action to find out what steps they could take in the real world to live a life that is more exciting and fulfilling.

no.
Long term effects of cannabis use are mental health problem and loss of memory.
short term effects are slow reaction times and looking like an idiot
if you smoke it, there are all the problems associated with inhaling smoke (lung cancer, throat cancer, etc).
if you use use resin, then it is often cut with cancer causing substances such as sump oil and also other various chemicals and products (appreciable amounts of dog feces has been found in some hash resin blocks)
marijuana is OK....if you have some certain long-term illnesses. otherwise, dont kid yourself.
{edit} - to 'me' (the answer below mine)
1) pot today is stronger:
The pot that your 'old pot heads' grew up with, used in the 60's and probably into the 90's was not the same as is around today... today, marijuana (in europe) is mostly 'skunk' and it has been bred to enhance it's THC content.
2) the fact that you see old pot heads about is a moot point.
you also see a lot of old smokers.... does that mean that smoking is healthy for you?
3) where marijuana is prescribed for its medical use, it is used in chronic, long term or terminal illnesses.
Morphine is also used for long term, chronic and terminal illnesses... that doesnt mean that it's ok to use morphine as a recreational drug

It increases your risk of psychotic disease by 40%. Chronic users all eventually get cerebral atrophy ( shrinkage ) this causes and accelerates dementia. Then there are the risks of the smoking itself which are similar to cigarette smoking.

It may be good to you but its not good for you. Duh. lol. It damages your lungs like cigarettes but I doubt you'd smoke as much as you would cigarettes.
