Jeans? Really? A marriage is a very special thing, and your wedding is the kickoff to that...it is a big deal to get married and should be treated as such. You shouldn't wear the same thing to get married as you wear to clean house...can't you wear a pretty skirt or casual dress? Give your wedding the respect it deserves and dress apprppriately, even if your outfit isn't a big white dress, something better than jeans is in order.

I have a good friend who got married in jeans out in the woods in a hippie-type ceremony in the late 60's. They are still married almost 40 years later.
I shot a wedding in July at a rodeo grounds, The groom and all the attendants were in denim overalls with red shirts. The bride had intended to wear overalls, but changed her mind at the last minute and was in a casual country white dress. I have shot other weddings where the dress was casual and the wedding party was in jeans or dockers, but the bride has always been in a dress or suit, not necessarily a wedding gown. Sundresses are popular in outdoor weddings.
I am a part time wedding photographer and full time photo lab manager, so I do see weddings, usually at the courthouse, where every one is in jeans. Frankly, it is hard to tell what the event is sometimes unless the bride has flowers or a photo of the ring exchange.
Certainly, you do not have to spend $500 on a dress. There are many avenues to acquire a wedding dress for much less, either formal gowns or informal dresses or dressy dresses. Or jeans, if you choose!
It really ain't your wedding apparel that makes a marriage work. I don't think being extremely casual is a bad omen or anything. Just be sure it is really jeans you want so you won't look back in a few years and regret it.

Hi. I can appreciate that you want casual, but I wouldn't do jeans. Jeans are an "everyday" piece of clothing. I would think for your wedding day that you would want to wear something different than what you wear everyday. Why do you think you need to spend $500 on a gown? I am a huge fan of Ebay, and there are many gowns (new) that are less than $50, some even $20!!!
You can have casual without wearing jeans. Why not wear a sundress, or some linen pants and a top. Isaac Mizrahi designs wedding dresses for Target [yes, Target!], that are causual and cheap!

My aunt did. For her third marriage, she got married in jeans, cowboy boots, and a red vintage sweater. There were only a handful of people there, and I think they just went out to eat afterwards.
For her first two marriages, she had big weddings and expensive white dresses. Ironically, this is the only marriage that's lasted.
Your wedding is what you make of it, and it should reflect the kind of people you are. If you're a down-to-earth, blue jeans kind of girl, then get married in jeans and have your casual wedding. Not having a wedding dress doesn't make you a bad person, and it won't make people not have a good time at the reception.

Haha, Jeans makes me think of that time Brittany Spears got married in Vegas. I understand wanting a casual wedding, but get married in a sun dress instead of a wedding dress... anything but jeans. I just think it would be kind of tacky for the bride to wear jeans (double standard, I know... but I have seen nice weddings done where the guys wore a nice new pair of matching jeans with a suit jacket). I think you would regret it in the long run. It depends on if you're going for the casual country look or not. It would be even harder to pull off if it didnt have a country theme.

I was at a wedding last year that was in the middle of a sunflower field. Everyone was asked to wear jeans. I was surprised to see the bride and groom in traditional white dress and tux as I thought they were doing a western or country theme. Then again, the male attendants wore nice jeans and shirts with vests and cowboy boots. The ultimate thing to remember is that this is your day (you and your groom.) People have gotten married in ice caves, bungee jumping, on boats, on beaches, on the golf course, in parks; they've done frankenstein themes and many others ... the sky is the limit (oh yeah, they've done it on a plane.) When sending your invitation, simply note that the attire will be casual and/or that it will be related to a particular theme.

Ten years from now, when you look at your wedding pictures, do you want them to look like every other picture of you? Tell your guests the event is casual dress, have hubby wear a pair of linen pants and a button-up shirt, and find a nice, white sundress somewhere to wear when you get married. You'll be able to re-wear it, but you won't look like you just got finished cleaning the garage and decided on the spur of the moment to get married.

If you want to get married in jeans, go for it!
I would put on the invitations that the attire will be very casual (jeans, t-shirt), just so your guests aren't dressed up more than you are!

this site has some nice ones - they aren't that expensive and it is your wedding after all - be sure to look at some of the other's there - they have some inexpensive dresses under $100 bucks that would be nicer than jeans for your wedding day

Jeans? I'm sure some have, but why not just buy yourself a casual summer dress or a skirt and a nice top? This way you can look casual yet nice and you can recycle your clothing wearing it together or seperately.
