If the world stopped as we know it, like no electricity, no food. Do you think we know how to survive.
Do you know how to build a fire, hunt and fish, clean and skin and prepare food to eat, plant a garden....without a store to buy seeds!
I think our generation of 20 to 50 year olds today would die! We can't change the oil in our cars, cut our own grass. We are becoming a weak ,spoiled, race of fat worthless human beings that only care about sundown and payday....no ethics, no integrity.......pay attention....the next time you go anywhere for anything........notice the person at "JUST" about any job they hate what they do and could care less about the person they are talking to or waiting on!!!!! We have to clean this world up.....Take out the trash and vote some good people in office....we need to get more educated and more aware of our surroundings, before it's to late!

Being a country girl I think I would survive, I can live of seafood and vegetables (both of which I grew up catching or growing) and I am handy with weaving, construction and crafts.
However I don't think you really care for any answers, I think you just wanted to post this to vent your frustration on the hopelessness of the human race.

Sadly you posted this question in the wrong forum. This is for etiquette questions - not philosophy.

As for your opinions about today's people? What society are you in?

As a 50 year old city gal - I also know how to milk a cow, plow with a mule and skin a deer. I can haul water, make soap, tan hides and preserve food - all on an open fire, mind you.

So does my 21 year old son.

So we're sitting pat.

Oh yes, I also have experience in computers (obviously) and can write a proposal that even the GAO would approve of.

It is true that the skills of self-reliant living are dying quickly.

Perhaps a few people in the frontier country of outback Alaska and the American West might survive, but our cities would become cesspools of violence, theft and desperation.

Certainly life as we know it would alter dramatically. No more cars or lawns. Every available inch of topsoil would have to be tilled and planted and guarded from looters.

Suicide rates would be huge, with people unable to cope. Everyone on manufactured medication for serious illness would eventually worsen and die early.

It would be a Mad Max world...looks like we're on the way to that, already.

i could survive in that world, i know all about how to build a shelter and find clean water etc. most of it is just common sense anyway, I'm not sure i could survive the other survivors, as has already been pointed out many people would turn to violence and theft and i will admit that in that kind of a situation my ethics would probably change dramatically so i could first ensure the safety and well being of my loved ones.

Nobody in the whole universe is sure about his/her survival.Only 5000 years have been past, when we are seeing everything with our eyes. And not only our earth, but un-counted(beyond our expectation) universes will disappear after 4,27,000 years.Do you want live more?If you've desire to come again in this world.Just go in the shelter of Almighty God.

Calm down...... It would be hard but I believe most people would persevere. People usually step up and help each other when there is a crisis.
