Doesn't the fact that God is referred to as "He" in the bible reflect the fact that the bible was written by primitive "men" who thought they were superior to women?

First off, I like you're little polar bear avatar, very cute.

Jehovah God does not have a gender. True, when speaking about him we use the gender of male. But he is not a God of flesh.

Their is no feeling on Jehovah or Christ's part that men are superior to women. There are many women in the Bible who are used as an example for us to follow. That there is a headship arrangement does not indicate that the female is 'lower' than the male. A ship can not have two captains, one must be the first mate.

Notice in Genesis, "18 And Jehovah God went on to say: “It is not good for the man to continue by himself. I am going to make a helper for him, as a complement of him.” The man is not here described by God as being a better person than the woman. Rather, God indicated that woman would possess qualities that would complement those of man within God’s arrangement. A complement is one of two mutually completing parts. Thus women as a group are outstanding in certain qualities and abilities; men, in others. Compare 1 Corinthians 11:11, 12.)

Hope that sorta helps.

i guess not primitive, in the sense that civilisation first rise in their era. second superiority in women doesn't show in the bible. no facts in the bible that shows that the men are superior in the bible. in the genesis, the bible describe men and women as one (NIV version). on the question if God is male or female, of course his a male. the bible is as truth as the life your living. God bless, for further question maybe you can experience God more when praying.

In the middle ages there was a bloke (who also happened to be a franciscan monk) by the name of Kramer (no- not the television one) who went right across europe looking for witches - and managed to burn quite a few thousand of them - and introduced the whole "Inquisition" system. Since then religion has pretty well been the prerogative of the male population. Interestingly enough, most of those women were midwives and herbalists. He wasn't superior - just afraid of women to the point of paranoia that they (women) would somehow undermine the "holy" Catholic church. So, bring in the "dark ages" - and it's only in the last century that we are coming out of that legacy.

There's nothing 'superior' about it. You get a mob of blokes that aren't allowed to fraternise with women on any basis - and put them all together under the guise of a guild called (in this instance "catholocism") and whaddya get?

Think about it. Prior to that women were/are mothers and carers and midwives and naturopaths etc.

A lot of churches are built on Female sites.
A lot of religious rites are based on Female rites.

Apart from gender - the only reason that this particular religion did so well was because it burnt millions of women at the stake - took over all the land that was theirs - and even to this day is still trying to denounce women as the precursors of men's evil intentions. (Muslims are a classic example - a woman who shows her hair in public is MAKING men want to do 'evil' - showing any part of her body is MAKING men want to do 'evil' - being seen with a man is part of her 'evil' intentions) - so one has to assume that men are either really unable to make informed decisions or that women are just too bloody good for them!

But, at the end of the day we mothers of our sons just love the men that we have brought into the world out of the pain of our bodies and I'm sure that 'god' 'goddess' realises this.

So, the only 'superior' males left now are the ones that make millions of dollars out of the ignorance of populations that have been downtrodden and bullied into subservience to a church or way of thought that is little better than a bingo game.

THE REAL SUPERIOR MALES LET THEIR WOMEN BE

It is Problem with the grammer which troubling u cause God Can be "Goddess" a female God , "Godfather" father of God and if u add "s" to God it will become Gods lmao mean many God.
the Best Word to Refering to God is "Allah".

Allah is not a new word it is mention in bible.
The word "Allah" is the perfect description of the "One God" of monotheism for Jews, Christians and Muslims!
Is "Allah" only for Islam and Muslims?
[No! It is for All Three Abrahamic Faiths.]
"Allah" is the same word used by Christian Arabs and Jewish Arabs in their Bible, centuries before Islam came.
On page one [1] of Genesis in the Old Testament, we find the word "Allah" seventeen [17] times.
Allah" comes from "elaha" but it brings more clarification and understanding.
Allah= Has no gender (not male and not female)
"He" is used only out of respect and dignity - not for gender
Allah = Always singular - Never plural
"We" is used only as the "Royal WE" just as in English for royalty
Allah =Means "The Only One to be Worshipped".

It's not purely in the sense of male as most people understand it. God is a being of order just look at the atom or a living cell. God placed man in the position of over-all leadership however God made eve as Adam's created equal. Some say that is why she was made from Adam's "rib", symbolic of being his side by side equal. Women bare children to carry on our race and the man is responsible for making her physical and emotional environment hospitable for nurturing the family.

Even we are males or females by our perishable bodies only. In actual we are souls which has no sex.

God is likewise a sexless being He being the supersoul. But He can incarnate in the physique that He likes.

Since we are a male dominant society we address to Him as He. By the definition of the word as we comprehend it ' he' seems to be superior to 'she'. But He doesn't have anything to do with 'he' or 'she'.

Do Buddhists believe in a creator god?

No, we do not. There are several logical reasons for this. The Buddha, like modern scientists, sociologists and psychologists, believed that religious ideas and especially the god idea have their origins in fear. The Buddha says:

"Gripped by fear men go to sacred mountains, sacred groves, sacred trees and shrines." *Dhammpada 188

Primitive man found himself in a dangerous and hostile world, the fear of wild animals, of not being able to find enough food, of injury or disease, and of natural phenomena like thunder, lightning and volcanoes was constantly with him. Finding no security, he created the idea of god in order to give him comfort in good times, courage in times of danger and consolation when things went wrong. To this day, you will notice that people become more religious at times of crises, you will hear them say that the belief in a god gives them the strength they need to deal with life. You will hear them explain that they believe in god because they prayed in time of need and their prayer was answered. All this seems to support the Buddha’s teaching that the god-idea is a response to fear and frustration. The Buddha taught us to try to understand our fears, to lessen our desires and to calmly and courageously accept the things we cannot change. He replaced fear, not with irrational belief but with rational understanding.

The second reason the Buddha did not believe in a creator god is because there does not seem to be any evidence to support this idea. There are numerous religions, all claiming that they alone have god’s words preserved in their holy book, that they alone understand god’s nature, that their god exists and that the gods of other religions do not. Some claim that god is masculine, some that she is feminine and others that it is neuter. They are all satisfied that there is ample evidence to prove the existence of their god but they laugh in disbelief at the evidence other religions use to prove the existence of another god. It is not surprising that with so many different religions spending so many centuries trying to prove the existence of their gods that still no real, concrete, substantial or irrefutable evidence has been found. Buddhists suspend judgement until such evidence is forthcoming.

The third reason the Buddha did not believe in a creator god is that the belief is not necessary. Some claim that the belief in a god is necessary in order to explain the origin of the universe. But this is not so. Science has very convincingly explained how the universe came into being without having to introduce the god-idea. Some claim that belief in god is necessary to have a happy, meaningful life. Again we can see that this is not so. There are millions of Atheists, free-thinkers and Buddhists, who live useful, happy and meaningful lives without belief in a creator god. Some claim that belief in god’s power is necessary because humans, being weak, do not have the strength to help themselves. Once again, the evidence indicates the opposite. One often hears of people who have overcome great disabilities and handicaps, enormous odds and difficulties through their own inner resources, through their own efforts and without belief in a god. Some claim that god is necessary in order to give man salvation. But this argument only holds good if you accept the theological concept of salvation and Buddhists do not accept such a concept. Based on his own experience, the Buddha saw that each human being had the capacity to purify the mind, develop infinite love and compassion and perfect understanding. He shifted attention from the heavens to the heart and encouraged us to find solutions to our problems through self-understanding.

But if there is no creator god how did the universe get here?

All religions have myths and stories which attempt to answer this question. In ancient times, when man simply did not know, such myths were adequate, but in the 20th century, in the age of physics, astronomy and geology, such myths have been superseded by scientific fact. Science has explained the origin of the universe without recourse to the god-idea.
