I also have another cat he is older and has no problems with using his litter box. I have 2 litter boxes and keep them clean. So why does she do this?

perhaps try a third litter box. Some cats insist on using one litter box for urination and one for defecating.

Perhaps your kitty is thinking of doing the same except she regrets that her choice is being used by another cat..

You didn't say where your cat is doing her #2, outside? or in the house? Is she doing it close to the litter box? If yes to that , maybe she is missing the box. My cats who are big, sometimes miss the box. If that 's not the problem, then perhaps she doesn't like the litter, or does this happen with any kind of litter you use? I have one cat that won't stay in the box long enough to cover it up, or did a hole first, if I put the clay litter in the box. (the kind that hurts if you have ever stepped on a peice barefoot.) I now only use the soft scoopable kind. If you have tried using different types of litter than I can't think of any other possible causes for your cat not using her litter box for #2.

Personal preference - our cat is the same, She uses her box for a #2 but only if she is really desperate. She prefers to go outside.

If the cat is doing their #2's in the house then you've got an issue but sounds more like the cat is just more comfortable with only using tray for #1's and outside for #2's.

Just like we all have our own personal preferences on where to go for our #2's e.g. I like to go at home and will only go in public (obviously not literally) if I'm desperate. Sorry for ther too much information bit there!
