In the OT, people used animals as blood offerings to God. Why is that necessary? The poor animal didn't do anything wrong! And if the human sinned, how does his slaughtering of an animal justify it?

Suppose you sinned and God were mad at you. So you pick up a stray dog from the streets and slaughter it! Then God says, "Very well, you killed the dog so I forgive you."

Is God a Vampire ROFLOL

ancient people were superstitious about the life force of blood. if you lose enough blood you will die. blood = power of life. the bible tries to claim that the beasts are different from man. the beasts were created to serve man, in the eyes of the bible they are nothing but tools to man. they were also valuable possessions. raising a goat took a great deal of effort and resources and can provide your family with nourishing milk or meat if needed. to sacrifice your valuable possession to god and cut it open to bleed out the life force and then burn the body would show your devotion to god.

Blood was required to cover sin in the OT. The animal had to be purebred with "no spot or blemish or any such thing" as the Scripture says because it takes something pure to cover sin! Otherwise, WE would have to die to get forgiveness! Seems counterproductive doesn't it? Anyway, man's sin got worse and worse as time went on, God realized that animal sacrifice wouldn't work anymore due to the fact that the animals used couldn't WILLINGLY go to their deaths. There was no more feelings of love, connection or loss between the man and the animals, no sincerity behind the sacrifice! Therefore, Jesus had to come on the scene and be a WILLING sacrifice for all sin for all time! This way, no more men would have to risk dying in sin, and no more animals would have to die for sacrifice! Your example of killing a dog wouldn't work even in the OT era, for dogs were considered unclean or impure animals and wouldn't be sufficient to cover sin.

All that is a creation of the human mind and not any God; but, anyway: "The wages of sin are death." And blood represents life. When blood was smeared on the alter, a copy of the law (Biblical law) generally within the altar, when God looked down, the blood which represents life obscured his view of the law. In other words, it and the life it represented, stood between God and the law.

Make sense? It did to the ancients.

wow..if it was just as simple as picking up a stray dog.

Look to the sacrifice system as learning model of what it takes to earn forgiveness.

1. The penalty for the crime is death, which is why blood becomes the symbol. Not just a simple "i'm sorry".
2. The sacrifice must be perfect - look at the admonition against using animals with defects and blemishes.

Not only did Jesus fulfill these, (His blood, His perfection), He also shares the innocence of the animal.

Now you should understand it is not an obsession with "blood", it is the price of forgiveness, full forgiveness, perfect forgiveness, and forgiveness with no memory of the crime.

peace be upon you
feeding the needy is a way for getting the God forgiveness.
So ,man can slaughter a cow ,bufflo, cheep or goat and give it to the needy for free.
Do u know; messenger Muhummed said that ;
' there is a women enter the hell as she confined a cat , she didn't feed it or let it eat from the herbs of earth.
The God is not a vampire , the God order us to care of animals.

That honestly is not funny at all. You obviously are either an Atheist or a non-believer.

By sacrificing something you show your willingness to do anything for God. In the old testement Abraham was willing to sacrifice his only son Issac for God, not because he wanted to but because he had faith in God and knew that God would bring his son back.

Killing and sacrificing arent the only ways to ask for forgiveness. I'm sure God does not want everyone sacrificing animals in exchange for forgiveness.
If you truly repent for your sins God will forgive you.

Because a sacrifice was supposed to be something of value and the offering of cattle, sheep, goats or doves had an actual expense which prohibited "casual" sacrifices. Please remember that you are talking about a society which was primarily subsistance level agriculture.

And technically a sacrifice still is something of value to you, so your example of the stray dog would not be applicable in a biblical situation.

Like Galileo & Copernicus , you are right on tracks.
Buddha searched for truth but finally he found a
very strange thing.
He did not find God.

He found the devil.

It is the devil behind the show.
The owner of the works.
Believe it or not.
And that accounts for everything.

Knock & it shall be opened to you.
Search and you shall find.
and
Those who search will get the truth
while the fools will get the BOOK.

Life blood. Blood relative. Bloody mess. Blood offering.

In the bible, blood is considered life.

Even in Christianity, wine changed into blood.

Killing/sacrificing animals for your sins is a really stupid idea. I think the "religion makers" just wanted to give a "cool" feel to religion so that people would follow it.
