I'm 16 and have been invited along with another friend to a bday party that a girl at school is having. Proabably about 35ish people are going to be there. I don't drink - havn't tried and don't really want to. I know for certain that everyone there will be drinking, and I also know that I will be more than likely to be pressured into having a drink. How do I deal with that? It's next week. I want to have a good time as it's my first "party" but want to do it without others asking...

well, yea if you say that ur not going to drink then keep to that, and if offered just refuse it, and just drink somthing legal. you can still party w/o drinking, just dance and chat, and have fun, n you'll forget bout the boose

The more mature you get the easier it is to say, "no thank you" when someone offers something you don't want. Just be mature. I am 33 and I don't drink just because everyone else is drinking. Sometimes, I want a drink, and I have one. Sometimes I am the only person there who is not drinking, and it doesn't bother me. You are 16, and know that you should not be drinking. Just say, "No thank you."

Why go to the party if you're not going to drink?? Most parties especially at your age are just an excuse to get really drunk or high, fool around and pass out. If you're not a drinker, then there's no reason for you to be there unless you're the designated driver.

It's the same as people who go to bars and then say "oh I don't drink." and just sit there like they're bored all night. These people have no business being there unless they're DD.

It's okay to stay of course, but people will think you're weird. Why not just do something you enjoy instead of hanging out with drunk people when you don't agree with drinking?

Well a good way to deal with pressure with drinking is to act cool while avoiding it. When someone pressures me to drink i would say things like, "I want some pepsi instead." or stuff like "why would i want to drink that it's bitter?" you can just say how you think it tastes and people might think you've already tried it and hated it.

just go and enjoy yourself, nobody will pressure you into drinking because people are usually stingy with their drinks as there isnt always a lot to go around. Just dance, have a good time. it's all good. Sometimes a little alchohol makes it more fun though.

Just tell them that you had a cold and the doctor has you on antibiotics. Or you can do the brave thing and just tell them that you don't want to drink because you don't like the taste of alcohol.

you have 2 options you can go and lie about why your not drinking like i'm sick (upset stomach or migrain or allergy) or you just just say i don't want to drink. i have a partier foe a brother and all i say is i don't feel like drinking right now and hes cool with it

Don't go those people are too old for you.... period. If you DO go remind them drinking underage is against the law & they can go to jail for contributing the delinquency of a minor.

Just say no to alcohol. You don't need to explain. Anyone that pressures you is not a friend and you should avoid them.

Go and have fun!
