This is a really a stupid arrangement, causing unnecessary inconvenience for passesngers who merely wish to carry small nail clippers, scissors, etc. on board a plane. Hong Kong International Airport is one of them!!

Nobody really understands the rules.
You are not allowed to bring scissors that can not even cut paper, but you can bring safety razors with fixed blades.

You can not bring disposable lighters, but you can bring refillable ones.

You can not bring anything pointy or sharp, but you can carry a picture frame with glass, and glass bottles as long as there is no liquid in it.
(And nobody seems to think about breaking the glass and getting sharp points.)
And you can buy a lot of doubtful items in the tax free areas, including some metal knifes and glass bottles.

And you can not bring any innocent liquids in any amount over 100 or 3 oz, but you can bring any liquid in amounts up to that point.

That's strange. In the USA, nail clippers, small scissors, etc. are just fine. Knives aren't, but knives shouldn't be allowed on airplanes anyway. Think about it... lots and lots of people confined, for potentially long periods of time, in a very small, enclosed space, with objects that could obviously cause someone harm? God, I shudder to think.

Although it does seem silly when you think about it. Stilletto (sp) heeled shoes are just fine, and they'd make a dandy weapon, in theory anyway. But then, they aren't designed to be used as something that can hurt people, whereas knives are. Ahh, the mysteries of life.

Its all airports all around the world and that ban will NEVER be lifted.

If it is, I will refuse to fly on an airline
