I am 5'1... and was a starter on my high school varsity team for 3 years. I went on to play college volleyball for 4 years and started for 4 years.... there is no "height requirement." As you can see... I am vertically challenged and that didn't stop me from playing and succeeding! Good luck!

There is no official "height limit", but I find that the taller players definitely get more court time. If you are short, you might want to consider playing libero, back row specialist, which is usually for shorter players, (although some state team libero's are 5'8, yikes!) Also, if you are short you need a huge vertical to make up for the height thing.

#1 the sport volleyball is one word. Height should not be a problem it's your athletic ability. Practice jumping , digging , blocking routines. See if the public library has any books on the subject. If you're short practice setting from all the positions of the court.

There is no height limit. Im 5'2 and im the varsity setter. So height isnt a big deal. I mean if you have it use it to all its worth! And i also have people that are shorter then me on the team.

taller helps, but lets face it there are some people who are 6'6 and can't even walk without falling.
Overall athletic ability is importian you can be 4'6 and sill dig up every ball in your area of the court, as you advance in levels you learn trick to help if your not tall.
Setters on my teams rarely are over 5'5 and they are really good at what they do so they play on great teams.

contrary to what people believe height is not required for volleyball, sure it's icing on the cake, but it doesn't matter if you can't bump, pass, serve, set, etc. height can't make up for those things. height is really good only if you're blocking. trust me i was at this tournament and i'm about five feet two. there was this guy who was probably five foot three...so you can imagine he's a shortie, but man was he good. and boy could he jump (see short people can jump so height just makes it easier), AND he was quick on his feet to get those balls.
