We live in the world where everyone is asked to judge between good and bad, they say his evil, he says their evil. So i say surely good and evil should be judged by actions.
50 years is long enough for a pattern of behaviour to emerge which is consistant with the personality of a nation. And i think the answer to this question can shed some light on who the bad guy is

Guys i asked a simple question, which only requires a simple answer. No need to get all defenisve, aint the thief judge as thus, based on the fact that he stole?

Tim C, thanks for that essay, but all i asked for was a one country answer. Many of your facts are wrong or misguided. America gives most aid yes, but in relation to its income its aid outlay is lower than several other countries. Saddams sons, wheres the tape. work on these points and than i inform you of the other faults in your essay

No_bloody_id, Great points and well articulated, if only it was voices like yours that made it onto CNN, Fox and all those other so called news channels.

Thats true indeed the reason behind and action can either exhonorate or condemn you further. Eg to kill in selfdefence wont usually send you to jail, whereas to kill for financial gain will often increase your sentence. Bush (2001) Iraq is linked to Al-Qaida, Bush (2002) Saddam has WMD's, Bush (2003) we invaved Iraq to liberate them. i bet all you who justify american actions, because of why you thought they happened, believed each one of these reasons for attacking Iraq.Yet 2 have been proven as lies, and the only thing proven is that America did go there to liberate 600000 people from their lives, a nation from its oil, stability and independence. Americas reasons always involve the resources of foreign and lands upon whose people America places great suffering, indeed when it comes to reason Al-qaida have more justice in their reason, as their reasons are to do with what is in their lands, its resources, puppet rulers, and foreign occupiers ect. THE REASON MAKES AMERICA WORST

I think you've proven your point - even many of the more the ignorant Americans know their country is the world's no 1 bomber.

However the responses have certainly shown the depth of ignorance - I can't resist responding to a few:

TimC: "i mean only 28 million people died then because the US did not invade and drop bombs soon enough."

Firstly, your 28 million is WAY short of the mark - Russia, who won WWII (although with a fair amount of material purchased from the USA) lost about this many dead on her own. japan also lost a very large number - mostly due to American bombing of civilian targets (in direct contravention of the Geneva convention).

Secondly:

"instead they went in and ousted Hussein and took over control until a proper government could be created. is this evil?" It was certainly illegal - how you can claim to be a "policeman" and break the law all over the place beats me. The true evil acts regarding Saddam were the US support that enabled him to take over the country, then pushing him into the Iran/Iraq war. (ever wonder why the Iranians are anti-US...)

BeachBum - see above about "policemen".

Paducah Billy:

"wipe your homeland off the face of the earth. History might judge me, but you would not have a homeland." - do you think this would enable the US to lve in peace ? You don't think it just might annoy someone enough to hit back ?

Dudedance:

"good or bad is determined not by military action but on why was the military action used?"

The first question should be "is it legal ?" Of course if you apply your reasoning you usually get "oil" or "us arms sales" or "halliburton profits" as the real reason.

BDZot - since the US pulled out of Vietnam over 1 million Vietnamese have died as result of "Agent Orange" - a n illegal chemical agent - a real "WMD" - and many are still killed every year by the 5% of thise bombs that failed to explode when first dropped.

funny how you pick a time after WW2.. i mean only 28 million people died then because the US did not invade and drop bombs soon enough.

now yes the Us has invaded and killed people but we also haven't had a world war. ever consider that maybe the reason is because the US is dropping bombs and killing people?

maybe it is because many countries know that there is a huge and powerful country out there that has nuclear and biological weapons that it can use if it has to to put down a rebel country. the fact that is has not used these weapons shows that this country is not evil.

i mean if the Us wanted to it could nuke half the world and send deadly viruses to the other half. yet it doesn't. i mean they could have just nuked baghdad, but they didn't. instead they went in and ousted hussein and took over control until a proper government could be created. is this evil?

the US also sends more humanitarian aid than any other country. maybe they could do more, rwanda was a huge failure.

but then again the US has limited resources. so they have to pick and choose which battles they want to win. rwanda meant nothing to them. whichever side won in the end was irrelevant. the US gained nothing in rwanda, in the balkans there were higher stakes, Oil and whatnot. there was a fight the us wanted to win.

now with terrorism, arabic terrorists are threatening the US, so i do not blame the US for going out and kicking ***. i mean husseins sons were talking about huge attacks on US soil that would make 911 look minor. i would take that as a threat and i don't blame the us for going into iraq.,

right now iraqis kill more iraqis than us soldiers or bombs do.

plus terrorists still have weddings, so if the us blows up a wedding who says its not a bunch of terrorists who were about to blow up something but the us got them before they could?

the fact is that you can't say that the us is evil. if they were there would be no arabs left alive. they would all have been nuked or killed off in other ways, you know that the us has the means to do so.

hitler was evil he would go into a country and kill, the us may do some things that are not so good, but when you look at the big picture in the end they work. and i would much rather trust my big powerful neighbour than a bunch of terrorists any day.

Loaded Troll question,

no matter whats expended in Defense against evil and corrupt regimes you, will take what was done for the good of the world and to free the innocents and add it up to answer the USA.

My point would be to say that RUSSIA mirrors the USA around the Globe and through history in its attempt to colonies the globe under Communism.

The Police kill more people than bank robbers. So what should we do.

I know, we need to send a nuclear bomb ticking to at least 10 Muslim countries. They want a holy war, I say give them one. God Bless the USA.

Just be thankful that we are such a peace loving country. If I were president, I would wipe your homeland off the face of the earth. History might judge me, but you would not have a homeland.

That's easy, we have americans that is.
But more importantly why did we do it. Surely you can't think that it was intentional.
Most of it was caused by the united states being the police force of the world and trying to do the right thing misguided as it was.
Actually most americans don't even know what their government is doing across the world. They are uninformed and unknowing. this is one of the reasons that we make so many of the worlds countries hate us. we just don't know about things. That doesn't mean we are evil just ignorant.
You want to bad guy look to the white house.

simply having bombs dropped or deaths does not prove a thing. This proves your ignorance and stupidity in making your thesis. IF you hate this nation than get the freak out of it and go to france or some other commie place!
good or bad is determined not by military action but on why was the military action used?

Your premise is false. Obviously you're trying to elicit condemnations of the U.S., but your metric is wrong for determining who the "bad guy" is.

Looking at your other questions, maybe you can start an "Answers" groups just for Muslims who hate the U.S.?

Update: It's not being defensive, it's refusing to play your stupid little game. You didn't even really ask a question, in that you weren't looking for information, but merely to prove a point.

In the "killed the most civilians and destroyed the most homes", I think Pol Pot would be the winner there. He managed to kill about 2 million people.

Dropped the most bombs? That'd have to be the US. In Vietnam alone, we dropped over one million tons of bombs. Most of them went along the Ho Chi Mihn trail though, and didn't kill anyone.

Launched most invasions? Not sure.

Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Mud Slides, Flooding. Covers destroying homes, killing civilians and dropping bombs.

I wonder if you use objectivity when figuring out the "facts". Since this is such a flawed "guideline" I'll put it in the round file. Everybody knows you can "forget" facts to justify your already decided conclusion.
