New York to Munich non stop is on the sites as just under 8 hours, but for Virginia I could not find an airport and for Washington DC I get flights with a connection, taking at least 10 hours, often up to 15 hours. (But a lot cheaper.)

Check with a travel agent, or search for tickets (and with that travel times) on google yourself.

You can fly from Dulles airport (IAD) to Munich in around 10 hours including a layover in Frankfurt.
