Animal understand Us better than we understand them... That dog understood that you wanted to be friend ...You really can be friend with all the animals around if you take the time to study them , understand and act in a way to will show them that you are a friend....But careful, like with people you have the odd one that is really crazy O/K?

If you're talking quiet the dog is trying hear what you are saying. I will sometimes whisper commands to my dogs, it keeps their attention focused on me.

Don't take the wagging tail as a sign of friendliness or enjoyment. While it can mean that, coupled with other body language it can also mean "I'm getting ready to bite you."

You're best just to walk by the dog, and not make direct eye contact with him. Ignore him.

Well no but it means that you could find out how to approach this dog and showed no fear which is one of the factors teases dogs more. But actually I do not recommend to try this with another dog you may not be lucky next time. Since some dogs are "really" protective and may not agree with your presence no matter what you do.

Good luck
