Depending on what state you live in you might need to just go see a judge @ the city or state level & they file the paperwork & stuff but not sure how long it takes. Some states it's best to get a lawyer so YOUR interests are taken care of. If the father of the first born isn't deceased you might need his permission. Good luck .Sounds like a good man.

I would talk to a lawyer. Adoption laws are different for every state. Adoptions are very complicated with paperwork. A lawyer would know the best way for you to go.

First how does the childs father feel about this?
#2)talk with a laywer who does adoptions.
#3)File with the courts to get a court date.Good luck.

I don't understand your question. Why should your husband wants to adopt his own child? For he is already the father.

go to your bookstore and whatever state your in, ask for the NOLO press copy of how to do your own adoption in the state of _____.

excellent do it yourself guide that walks you through the procedure. I used it to handle our adoption when I remarried in the state of California.

This is assuming, of course, that you're wanting do it yourself advice.

first of all you have to have signature from your x that you all can. if he wont' sign then you can't. if hes not around or whatever or something putting in paper you have to do this you have to get lawyer and do it leagally.
