Christianity isn't just a title, it's a lifestyle. When you truly devote your life to God and begin a relationship with him through prayer, then you can consider yourself Christian. Many children are baptized into a church and go through the sacraments, but that isn't devoting your entire life to living for God because many of these kids don't even care about those things. In fact, if you live for God, baptism and sacraments won't make you any more of a Christian.

Also, you should go to church and read the bible, but that alone won't give you the gift of eternal life in heaven. Many people are mistaken by that and think that doing just that will make them Christians.

RC is not any more original than Orthodox or some of the other Eastern churches. And Protestants would argue (to a very large extent correctly) that they restored many original beliefs and practices that the RC and the Eastern churches had deviated from. For ex., those Protestants who reject any idea of a priesthood much less bishops or a pope are clearly right that their views coincide with those of Jesus. Anyway, you generally become a Christian via baptism.

Catholics start by being baptised. After a while, they learn some stuff and you will have to go to confession and then have their "First Holy Communion" .. later on you would have a "Confirmation". In between all these milestones you attend church every Sunday plus a few extra services like Easter Friday and Christmas Day and I don't know.. maybe Ash Wednesday. You need to learn a lot of hymns.. and join the choir.

Good luck. Oh... always take some money to put on that plate... it comes around at least a couple of times.

if you have been baptized in a protestant church then baptism isn't neccessary as the roman catholic church acknowledges the baptism of the other church. the first step you need is to enroll in the RCIA clases in your parish or the closest parish to you. ask the priest for further instruction such as dates etc.........

the classes inform you about the sacraments there importance and other aspects of the catholic faith. should you wish to leave at any point you are under no obligation. here are some sites that will help you in your journey home if you want to check them out. hope they help and god bless.

Actually Orthodox is the original church. RC split off from Orthodox in 1054ad. Check your history. RC has actually watered down how it celebrates christianity. Orthodox is still truer to the original traditions. Plus we do not have a Pope that thinks he is infallible.

If you are interested in joining or just learning more about the Catholic Church, contact your local parish and ask about information about their RCIA Inquiry group.

You can go and ask any questions you want.

This is the first step in RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) but you can stop at any time.

There is no obligation to become a Catholic.

With love and prayers in Christ.

you have to be baptized in the Catholic Church, but before that you have to attend a Catehcism to make sure you know what you're getting yourself into.

edit: by the way, get ready to recieve bashings against the Catholic Church here from anti-Catholics.

another edit: LOL! see what I told you? it didn't take long and someone from an anti-Catholic group has already posted his opinion after me. get ready for more.

anyway, goodluck with your quest.

First, God bless you and welcome home!

I'm a fellow convert myself, so I love seeing others enter the Church :D. You should contact your local parish priest and enroll in RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). These classes will teach you the Christian Catholic Faith.

Again, God bless you, and welcome home.
