The same as experiencing a tragedy in life and receiveing help to an improved life! I believe born again contrast to change from what you believe inside yourself then let it show through who you are on the outside as well. Everyone changes for their own reasons throughout their life. Believing in someone or something also can bring change to a person. Changing in the sence of a Christian means you believe in Jesus's love, forgivness and that he wants the best for you more so than you want for yourself - in unselfish manners. God is awesome!

If you read the Gospel of John 3:5 it says to be "born again of water and the Holy Ghost." This clearly means the traditional Christian practice of baptism.

Jesus says in the book of John that to go to Heaven you must be born again. By that he meant you must have a spiritual birth, you have had a birth of the flesh, but to get to Heaven you must except Jesus Christ into your heart and be born again. You must believe that Jesus Christ came to earth to die on the cross for you. You must believe he rose from the grave and is sitting at the right hand of the Father in Heaven, you must be willing to admit that you are a sinner. If you believe in Jesus and the authority of the Bible I will show you a Prayer you can pray that will lead you to Jesus and his saving grace and mercy. Just say Dear Lord, I confess to you that I am a sinner and that you died on a cross for me to take away my sins. I believe you rose from the grave, washing away my sins, I ask you now to come into my heart and save me. I believe you are the Son of God, in Jesus Name, Amen... If you Prayed this Prayer with a sincere heart believing on Jesus you are now saved and on your way to Heaven. Find a church, confess your transformation publically and start serving the Lord. Read your Bible daily, It will guide you into all truth, the Holy Spirit will come and live in your heart and teach you all things, May God richly Bless YOU!!

John 3:1-8 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)
Public Domain
John 3
1There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Born again is the experience of comprehensive spiritual change. A good parallel for understanding it is the Recovery experience. Both can be debased, usually by people who think they have it eactly right.

we are born once from the womb
then we are Batised with water surmerged under water
meaning that our sins are dead we are alive to righteousness
we then are reborn by the spirit of God that enters into us as we ask him to come into our live and take control
the spirit is life but the flesh, the things we do in the flesh are death to us

Nicodemus came to Jesus at night and praised Him, but Jesus said, Truly, unless you are born again, you cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus was puzzled. How can a man jump back into the womb and be born again? Then Jesus began to teach him the difference between that which is of the flesh and that which is of the spirit. When we come to the light out of momma's womb, that is being born. That is of the flesh. The second birth is in the spirit of a man, not the flesh. Jesus is teaching him that his spirit must be born anew or from above. This is in John chapter 3. Jesus continues to teach him that as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, that the Son of Man must be lifted up, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. When a man truly believes in the Lord Jesus Christ, his spirit is born again from above. The Spirit of the Lord then comes to reside within the spirit of the believer and seals him.
It is not something you can observe with the five senses. We humans have three parts. The flesh we see every day in the mirror. That is our outward man. We also have an inner man where we think, and will and dream and have our personality. This inner man is made up of the soul and spirit. For the most part the soul and spirit cannot be divided but only distinguished. The spirit is deeper, almost hidden from us. We are quite aware of our souls but most are unaware of our spirits. Notwithstanding, when a spirit is born again, that spirit is in touch with God. As newborn babies in Christ, now comes the process of renewing the soul. This is sanctification. It is a lifetime process. So when a man is saved, his spirit is saved immediately, his soul is in the process of being sanctified or set apart purely for God, and his body will be saved in the resurrection. While on earth you will see Christians in various stages of this sanctification. Some will still behave badly while others mature in the Lord and behave more like Christ. When the Son of God came He did not come to condemn the world but to save the world. Sometimes Christians forget of what Spirit they represent and begin to condemn the world. Our job is to share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ to all who will hear. When you are born again, you gain the "eyesight" to "see" the kingdom of God. Understanding comes to you. However, the fight is on: the spirit versus the desires of the flesh. I am afraid that here in America especially, we the church have become carnal. We have religion but not the power of the Lord, nor his presence. We are more interested in being successful, being happy, and being free than serving the Lord. We are more interested in God benefiting us. Not all Christians, but enough to disgrace the name of the Lord. We are in terrible need of true revival and repentance. We need to fall at Jesus' feet in true contrition. Not everyone who says Jesus, Jesus is serving Jesus. Notwithstanding, the Lord stands at the door and knocks. If anyone hears his voice and opens to Him, Christ will come in and abide with him and give him His marching orders. Those who are born again hear the voice of the great Shepherd of our souls. That hearing is not with the eargate. You must be born again. That hearing is in the spirit of a man.
