If it was deliberate then it could be a sign of abuse.

"What is physical abuse?
Physical abuse includes hitting, shaking, kicking, punching, scalding, suffocating and other ways of inflicting pain or injury to another person. It can also include a parent who continually reports made up illnesses or symptoms in their children.

Physical abuse is damaging and can have long lasting or even fatal affects."

(I took that from www.survivormatters.co.nr)

Sweetie if hands are put on you when they are not wanted it is abuse even if you didn't fall.I have ben there done that I ended up having to have my face put back together cosmetically six times in two years and lost a child from abuse. It starts with words then shoving then it works up to slapping then to punching and by then you don't even know what to think but what you are desribing is abuse if you need any help contact rainn they help abused women and children to get out of the situation and on their feet again and if you're too scared to do that keep a journal just in case so people know what happened just don't let your abuser know about it or where it is

The correct, but politically incorrect, answer is it depends on whether you deserved it. I'm not suggesting you deserved it, I wouldn't know. But in principle if the shove was a response to some other form of abuse it could be self defense.

The politically correct response is that nobody ever deserves a shove -- that's just nonsense. There hasn't been a human being born yet that didn't deserve his or her butt kicked on occasion.

if anyone touches you in a harmful way...

a way you dont want to be touched it is abuse and it ALWAYS escalates...

it is never right for a man to lay hands on a woman and mean her any kind of harm...
intimidation, insults, control, injuries all of that
if he is real sweet sometimes.... it doesnt matter
because those other times when he is not good to you will be what you remember he will make sure of that you need to think about a daughter you might have... would you want to see her shoved by a man she is dating?
Im thinking not, because its WRONG
YOU ARE BETTER &
YOU ARE WORTH MORE THAN THAT

Yeah it's abusive. Being shoved is no laughing matter. These kind of events that occur can escalate to something worst. Just beware of who did this to you.

I have been where you are and it always starts out very small. With a push or a slap and it is abuse. GET OUT NOW it will get worse. Save yourself you are worth more than that .

if the shove was intended to make you fall, it was abuse, whether you fell or not. It's all about intention.

it's all about intention... if he/she seemed like they were trying to hurt you, then yes, yes it is.
