there has been a mid air collision at or near delhi (india) sometimes back. how many such accidents due to atc error have taken place in the history of aviation?

They are not all due to ATC errors; some were due to pilot error and/or other mistakes. As to how many have ocurred? The answer is obvious...too many! Good luck!

Way back when, they were making a movie of an aerial dog fight and two W W 1 biplanes collided in mid air. The film company chose to leave the collision in the film. I have the VCR, someplace, but I don't remember off hand what the name of the film is. I'll have to look. If I find it, I'll edit in here.

Edit: It might have been Hell's Angels, I'm not sure.

Impossible to say. You'd have to total all the civil and GA collisions and then all the military stuff too, including all those that took place in war. Including the suicide attacks. I doubt the Russians even counted their collisions in the 'Great Patriotic War'. Similarly for the Pacific part of WWII, many aircraft were lost unnoticed over vast areas of deep ocean.

Those are all the collosions that occured in the world. Both in the air and on the ground.
