I like Blessed Bob's answer, especially about his comment on George Burns and Bob Hope. I will not comment on "blue" and others like her. Not worth the effort.

Psychiatry as a pseudo science is worse than useless, and it's not just Scientologists who think so. Already their funds are being cut in Congress. Insurance companies won't touch these guys.

Religion has been a mainstay in human society for centuries. Why people went the way of the materialistic "psych" and then wonder why their education and morality went out the window with that conviction, God only knows....

I hope that answers the question. Psychiatry is worthless and dangerous. See your local minister or your parents as worthy alternatives, or a good friend.

Yes, (the one guy that was hesitant on every question is kinda scary that he's a psychiatrist) you can't "cure" a mental ilness, disorder. You can learn to live with it, either through drug therapy and/or cognitive therapy through counsilling. That guy that said it's not something to do with chemical imbalance, doesn't know what the hell he's talking about. I personally don't believe religion can do any better than a psychiatrist or a psychologist.

I personally don't like most Psychiatrists because they use drug therapy (more times than not) instead of finding a root cause for some disorders. I prefer Psychologists... they are taught how to TALK to people.

It depends on which religion you find. There are some that are pretty bad for those people with psychological problems. There are some, however, that teach love and understanding and can be a greater influence than Drug therapy.

Can I have an engram test James M and Michael? Your web link claims to invalidate psychiatry as there is not one psychical or biological test that can prove the claim that mental illnesses exists. So can you prove that engrams exist through physical or biological testing? I publicly declare I'll take it and you can prove to me that engrams exsist so everyone can see them. We'll call the press to watch the results. I'm always happy to be proved wrong.

If you use your religion to help better yourself and for peace and tranquility rather than for justifying outrageous, extreme ideologies then yes.

Otherwise, you're better off with Xanax.

i dont like psychiatrists,their overated and dont help people, If i ever met a doctor that wanted to go into psychiatry, i would slap them and tell them to be a internist.

Leave the therapy to Social workers, just because your smart, dosent mean your good.

There are people that need medication to help them with their mental illnesses. Just because you can't draw blood and see someone who is schizophrenic it doesn't mean that they won't seriously hurt themselves and/or others without proper medication. There is NO alternative to psychiatric help when you are mentally ill.
