I'm become more tolerant of the knuckledragging breed in the past few years. I love watching competitions. It is pretty sick stuff. I've also found myself skiing along with riders more and more.

I tend to stay away from the parks and pipes nowadays and since that's where most of them are, the DoubleBlacks and trees seem to be 'boarder free.

I will argue the point that a good many boarders still gaggle up at the top of sweet headwalls and novice riders really do trash the snow when they go down sideways. But there are just as many skiers who stop in the wrong places, so there is red paint on both sides of that fence.

I will say that the only major collison I've ever had with anyone was a snowboarder who didn't look while merging. The screwball had his back to the merging trail and was too busy looking at the woods and his buddies instead of facing the merging trail. He was a big SOB like me and I thought we were both going to need ski patrol.

And of course when my angst for riders reaches its boiling point I simply head up to Mad River Glen. Ahhhh...peaceful two-planker bliss!

I've always been a ski racer so all those idiots on boards that run over skiers, are ignorant of other people on the hill and sit on middle of the runs and the jumps just waiting to get hit make me think snowboarding is for just for idiots. I did give it a try this last season, cuz hey, why pass up free lessons. It went alright but its not my thing.
