It all depends on where you live. In the us, a general practictioner or family doctor average about $191,300 annually, while a dentist only averages $106,000. A dentist take 7 to 8 years of schooling, in the us you must have a bachelors degree before you can even enter into dental school. A gp take 6 years and then a 1 year residency. Now in each state, that average salary could be way more or way less. You can get on google and look up average salary of each profession in your state and how long it takes for schooling as well. I had to do this for a project in high school.

Tech jobs can be a good choice if you don't want to go to school for a long time and rack up lots of loan debt.
X-Ray/Radiology techs and Sleep Lab/EEG techs can practically choose their positions, and generally make $18-$28/hr, depending on experience and certifications.
Average time in school for an Associate's degree in these fields is 18months. You'll get more money if you take the certification tests in the fields.
If your a bit of a night owl, Sleep Lab tech is good- many work 3 days @ 12hrs/day( figure 7pm-7am), and then off for 4, or work 4 days at 10hrs with 3 off.
Best of luck!

well a nursing career is always good because you can always advance. you can start as an LPN which is a one year program. to be a RN you only need 2 years. If you have masters which is like 6 years you are basically like a doctor. since the demand of nurses is growing the sign on bonuses are big.
