I heard my friend mention it and I just want to make sure there's no such thing so I know she's not like that. And if there is, what is it?

i knew ipecac was used for poisons, and i'm pretty sure she uses this stuff but does it add more danger to the fact she's bulemic in the first place?

Yes there is....syrup of ipecac. It's been around since before me and I have grandkids. People always used to keep it in case of accidental poisoning (especially in children), but you must use it with poison control's instructions because some poison you don't want to vomit.

Yes. It's a liquid called Ipecac, usually found in the first aid aisle of the drug store. The purpose is to cause regurgitation in case of poisonous/ toxic ingestion. It's a much milder version of having your stomach pumped with charcoal as they do when you wind up in the ER for poison ingestion, or drug/alcohol overdose. I was bulimic in high school and used that a couple of times... it's the worst. Violent vomiting, to the point of breaking blood vessels... it's much harder on your body than just making yourself get sick using your finger or muscle movement b/c you end up heaving for a long time after there is nothing left to purge. If your friend is using this stuff, you need to tell an adult who cares enough to get her help. Her potassium level is probably dangerously low if she uses it often, which puts her in grave danger of suffering a heart attack

It is called syrup of ipecac. It induces vomiting. It is good to have on hand if you have small children in the house, in case they swallow something they shouldn't. You can buy it at any drug store.

Yes there is, for treatment of people who have injested a poisonous substance which will not cause damage is regurgitated.

This should be kept in every first aid kit for use after checking with poison information centre.

IT SHOULD NOT BE USED BY BULLEMICS AS IT IS EXTREAMLY DANGEROUS!

I really hope you aren't going to use this information to harm yourself....the thing is called Ipeac (or something like that) but it is only to be used in extreme cases, like internal poisioning and before you take it CALL the poisin controll center!!!

They always say to give dogs hydrogen peroxide (that stuff in the brown bottle) if they eat something they're not supposed to because that'll make them throw up. Please don't use this information to begin an eating disorder, though.
