I have recently filed an unemployment claim through Hawaii who will in turn try to get my wages from OH and PA, where I last worked.....Has this worked out or not worked for any other military spouses who had to come to Hawaii?? I appreciate any info or insight you have on this.

Most states consider it a voluntary move and therefore will NOT pay unemployment wages.

I haven't heard of any military spouses collecting unemployment because of having to move to a new duty station. I have to be honest and think it more than likely isn't possible because then the unemployment system would be flooded...we've all lost jobs because of PCSing but it goes with the territory, Out of curiousity, why file unless you have already tried to find a job and been unable to? Plus, since your husband is working and you do have housing, I would think you would be ineligable.. just my thoughts tho.

my ex received it when we were married. They had it stated, she left her job to follow me being restationed, and to keep the family together.
As Hawaii is known as a "welfare" state, many folks quit their jobs to follow their spouses and get it. Dont know if it is still same but their rep is.

it should work out.

After hurricane Ivan, i moved from fla to tenn and filed for unemployment.

I was paid the fla rate for unemployment, not the tenn rate.

Which was good, because fla paid more.

So they will do the same, you will be paid based on the state you were living in and working in, before you moved to hawaii.

Each state is different, here is a link to a map of states that allow spouses to file for unemployment due to a PCS. Hopefully, it works! If not, please contact me and I can send it directly to you. Good luck!
