42 is a fictional "answer" to everything. I don't know why people say 42 will tell ya...give me a break. To answer your Q, I have no idea, and neither does anyone else.

Everyone has a purpose for living. Everyone has special gifts or talents that can make life better for others. Some tap into this purpose through their spirituality. Others tap into their purpose through the sciences of philosophy. Others find their purpose by mistake or happenstance.
Everyone has a purpose for being here. Those who find that purpose live rewarding lives. Those who don't struggle and are always wandering.
If you have not found your purpose I suggest you start reading a bible. Rad for understanding and question those things you don't understand and search for answers. Through your journey of discovery your purpose will be revealed to you.

Death.
We are born to die. Coming to grips with death means coming to grips with life and visa versa.
The purpose of life is a life of purpose.
42 is the answer to life from "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe". Long story.

I assume you mean the meaning of life. You do not need to hit yourself in the face for hours on end as shown in I heart Huckabees to know what it is. The purpose of life is to get our character shaped like the heart of Jesus. We were originally created to spend eternity with God in a perfect world. That was the meaning of life. But we sinned and messed it up. That will one day again be our reality, but for now, we must allow God to mold us like He wants us. All of the other details of life fall into place if we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

One life to turn from one life to look forward to, the contiousness of God is the purpose of life. God saw Jesus going about doing His work & said I want more of this & He made man so that He could express His love. So much love!!!
