I work from 10 pm to 7 am for two years now and I LOVE it! Just go to sleep when you get home from work and try to get at least 5 or 6 hours of sleep! That's what I do. But I also eat one meal a day!

i've been on night shift for over 30 years. i have a dark bedroom that is also fairly quiet. i get home and have a snack and go straight to sleep. i try to get at least 5 hrs of sleep. if i can't sleep, i stay in bed until its time to get up. i forced myself into a routine and quit thinking of being on dayshift (besides i hate dayshift. too many idiots). if i don't get enough sleep, an occasional Mt. Dew or coffee helps carry me thru. i have to reset my "biological clock" every week by taking a nap of a couple of hours before work on the day i start my work week.

Your body will adjust over time. When you sleep during the day, have your room as dark as possible. While at work try to keep your mind active with reading, games in books like word searches and listening to music. Try not to rely on energy drinks and caffeine. Instead drink V8's and lots of water...much more healthier and you'll be getting your daily dose of veggies.

I drink lots of coffee!!! Be sure to get plenty of sleep and try to eat healthier than normal you will need the extra nutrients. It's not normal to stay awake all night so your body will fight it. I got really sick when I switched to 3rd shift. just be sure to take care of yourself. if you have to, get an eye mask and ear plugs to help you sleep during the day. good luck I know it's hard to get use to. I don't think you will ever really get use to it but it does become normal after awhile.

Get to a computer with internet capabilities and surf da internet til you get tired while stabbing yourself with a needle. If the internet gets boring, bring in your xbox 360 hook it to the internet and then play that for the remainder of your shift.
