Because people like to hear it from more than one source and from people their own age... plus if it's some math problem they'll say 'figure it out on your own'! :P

Mostly due to communication gap and busy parents not being available to interact with children .Then there are private and sensitive questions which they can't ask their parents.Lastly,there are questions which children think or know that their parents wouldn't be able to answer. In a way,it's good that YA provides them an outlet to quench their thirst for knowledge.It's equally SAD that they are missing out on a vital aspect of their healthy growth.

Sometimes it is advisable to do so to get as many opinions on how to approach their parents. Another is that parents though they may be older and more experienced, it doesn't mean that they know everything and that their answers or solutions is the best.

So the best ever thing a person could ever do to get quick extra answers from millions of advice is on Yahoo Answer!
