They did a cat scan, and found nothing wrong with my appendix, my ovary, and the kidney (although he did say the cat scan may have missed a kidney stone but that was only a slim chance). All of my tests also came back negative. Any ideas? How do I tell if it is just a pulled muscle? I can't even breathe without pain!!!

Expensive tests are fun, but what was the doctor's physical exam findings???? He/she did perform a thorough physical exam, didn't he/she? Sadly, I am willing to bet the doc didn't. Using an expensive diagnostic test as a 'fishing expedition' is bad medicine. Tests should only be ordered to CONFIRM the doctors 'working diagnosis'. The working diagnosis is made based on a thorough history and physical examination.

Where is the pain? Does breathing aggravate or cause it? Is the pain constant or intermittent? How long have you had the pain? Was there any trauma before the pain? Describe the pain - is it dull, sharp, burning, aching, lancinating, stinging, pins and needles, electrical shocks, etc.? Have you had this kind of pain before? What aggravagtes the pain? Does anything relieve the pain? Is the pain getting worse? How old are you? Are you taking any medications (prescription or over the counter)? Do you have any other health issues? Any history of surgeries? Allergies? Injuries?

These questions are critical beginnings for a thorough evaluation of pain. Did your doc ask about all of them???? Then, did the doc thoroughly examine you? Probably not.

You need to find a better doctor. Best wishes and good luck.
