LOL, this question reminds me of the scene in Borat where he asks the owner of a gun store what the best weapon to defend against the Jew is and the guy (maybe being a smart ***, or maybe unintentionally) gives him an Iraeli-made Desert Eagle.

Lets see: The Jewish State took in 3 million Jews who were kicked out, without compensation or resources, from the Arab states after Israel got its independence. This includes airlifts from Yemen and the Gulf Sheikdoms. The Jewish State bribed teh Ethiopan govt with millions and millions of dollars to rescued almost 100,000 Ethiopian Jews from torture and massacre and airlifted them from Ethiopia to Israel. The Jewish State provide a homeland for almost a million Jews who survived the death camps and were DPs in Europe after WWII.

In each case, if there was a war involving Israel, it was started >the 1st gun was fired and the 1st soldier moved forward< by an Arab State or terrorist organization. Every act of terrorism that has grown out of the Israeli/Arab confilict and effected a non-Arab or non-Jewish state has been planned and carried out by an Arab terrorism organization or state. All terroism planned and carried out by homegrown terrorism organizations in Euope like the IRA and the Red Army in Germany had Arab terrorism contacts, training and financing. It isn't whether the world can afford a Jewish state, it is whether the world can afford an Arab state.

Perhaps it would be better to ask if the events of WWII leading up to the rebirth of the Jewish state were too costly.

Shalom and long live Jewish state. They have right of their historical homeland just like any other middle east state.Their country was wipped out of world map by their enemies and they had right to revive it using any means at their disposal that time and now. They are not a problem to anybody and Jewish tax payers as any others are paying for security of their state. No cost is expensive for security and if you think so try insecurity.Look at what is happening in Iraq and Afaghanistan and other states where security has broken down.

The Jewish state has always existed, just not in the eyes of the political world. Simply because some world leaders sat down and decided to draw a line on a map doesn't mean that it didn't exist before that time. It simply allowed a new, Jewish political machine to centralize in some place of this world. I do realize it has caused some conflicts, but they deserve their own state. If someone doesn't like them having their own political state, then that's their problem. All of this "-istan" nations wanted their own independent state after the USSR took over, and they got theirs, so why complain about Israel getting theirs, too?

I wouldn't know about the WORLD, maybe the American taxpayer who shouldn't have to bear this burden, I would say YES. I am ex marine special op's as was my ex brother in law. He left the Corp and went into Army Intel. Often they sent him to protect political Israeli figures and always questioned him WHY he thought it was important to do so. He'd say "I'm a christian and it a job to protect those associated to my faith." I could never understand why it was HIS job or OURS as Americans to protect Israel and still don't, but then again I know much of what many DON'T know and still feel Israel nor any other country is the responsibility of the taxpayer in the US to have to support. What are we, the welfare agency to NON american countries while americans get told they have to do without ? THAT is the COST american taxpayers are told they have to BEAR, and have never liked it, just as this "salvation" plan initiated in Iraq and Afghanistan......

No. The cost of "freedom and democracy" for all in the world has been to great. Americans went to Vietnam to protect freedom and democracy. America is in Iraq to protect freedom and democracy. How many Americans die because of this? How much American money is wasted on this? Jingoist expansionist policies are disguised as means to protect freedom and democracy.
