How can you show a guy your not like his ex?

you see for 7 or more months now we have liked eachother...
we met at church and we quickly started to like eachother. he then one day told me he liked me. Boy was i a happy girl =]
then time passed. he went on vacation and i got asked out alot, but i rejected. when he came back i decided to tell him my feelings. so i did i told him everything on my mind. i told him i still liked him even if he dosent like me. he then said that we cant be cause im so nice and pretty and then he said soemthing about his ex i couldnt understand [this convo was not in english] but yea... i told him that he shouldnt think about the end. cause its not the beginning or the end thats important its in between that matters. but he had nothing to say. He told me he still likes me and he meant everything he said and did. although it was hard for me i told him that i guess we should be friends hes reply was "yea...i guess?"
friends think hes got commitment problems. but how do i show him that im different?

You are not the problem here. It won't matter how different you are from his ex if he's not ready for a new relationship. Just be yourself and live your life. When he's ready, maybe he'll come looking for you.
