I would like to hear from those that get thumbs down often and those who seem to use it often...how does it make you feel spiritual wise.

Interesting question, and one that I'll certainly follow.

I get thumbs-downs very frequently. I get them because my views are simply different, and whenever I get a thumbs-down, I know it was someone closed-minded who gave it to me because they will give a thumbs-down to ANYBODY who doesn't match their beliefs to a T. It just saddens me that people won't even listen.

I will give a thumbs-down to anyone who is intolerant or thinks they are 10000% correct and there is no chance in Hell they could be even slightly off.

That depends on the performance of my answer. Sometimes my answers suck, then I feel rightfully chagrined and chastised.

Sometimes my answers are completely awesome, and the I feel a thumbs down is vindication that someone else just 'doesn't get it'.

Sometimes my answers are neither here nor there, thern a thumbs down is neither here or there.

Sometimes you know you are dealing with absolutists and if your answer is in opposition to their claims then one would expect a thumbs down.

What I'm saying is, it's all relative, and 'spiritually', I'm my own person and unaffected by people I don't know who can click a mouse at random.

No wait, they can vote in real life....ARGHHHHHH!!!!

It lets me know that people care SO MUCH about what I've said that they take the time to publicly declare how I've gotten under their skin. Every thumbs down is an open demonstration of the discomfort I've caused for them and how it bothered them to the point of needing to "make it go away".

And I think that's a good thing. At least then they thought about it long enough to conclude "gosh, I just can't stand this". I'm wagering it's usually because the answer challenges a preconception of theirs... and I think pushing boundaries is always a good thing.

Then again they might ACTUALLY think that I've said something incorrect. *shrug* I try to always tell the truth (unless I'm joking and in that case, I make it pretty obvious).

I rarely give a thumbs down, I don't like to do it because I know how awfully sad I feel spiritually and otherwise when I recieve thumbs down myself.

Sometimes I don't know why i get a thumbs down, but I know alot of my views are a bit different from alot of other christians' views... I think that may be part of it.

I hate being negative, so giving a thumbs-down always makes me feel bad. And since I usually work hard to give the best answer I possibly can, it makes me a little sad to get a thumbs-down.

I'm just not into hurting people's feelings because I know how I feel when it happens to me.

There are plenty of times that I don't understand why I got a thumbs down. Doesn't really bother me - I think it's just so people can try and get to you.

Doesn't bug me getting them. Most times when I get them are on questions that I make a good point that makes non-believers mad. I figure the thumbs down me because they have no way to refute what I am saying.

Do not do to others what you do not like others to do on to you....

nothing spiritual about it for me either.... it is my way of saying I disagree..... that simple..... I do not use it unless I REALLY disagree with what is being said...... and maybe sometimes to those who put nonesense down...... I have even *downed* a few of my own, for their childish answers..... I get *downed* a lot...... I really think there is a few who just do it to be doing it....... they see certain avatars and Bingo, thumbs down.... go in peace...... God bless

i hardly ever use it, but the thumbs down fairy seems to follow me around sometimes. i'm usually amused.

edit
i don't think it's a spiritual thing so much as a petty thing.
