Being with more than one partner is biological unnatural and polygamy is not supported by the Bible.

Not supported by the Bible? I guess you missed all the parts in the Bible where the patriarchs Abraham, Jacob and rulers, David and Solomon had more than one wife.

It is not biologically unnatural, It happens in many cultures around the world. It is just not socially acceptable in Western culture and law. It was abandoned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1890. Certain apostate former members started their own churches and still practice this. The Church has encouraged the government to enforce the laws.

Polygamy was revealed as God's will to Joseph Smith and other Mormons. Mormons believe that subsequent revelation trumps the Bible and trumps other revelation. So some believe the original "polygamy" revelation and others believe that subsequently God changed his mind and repealed polygamy.

There's nothing either natural or unnatural about it. The government, IMHO, should tread lightly when it comes to interfering with religious beliefs and the marriage practices of consenting adults.

By the way the Bible gives all kinds of examples of polygamy, while warning that it's not a good idea.

Well I don't know about your other statements but not all Mormons practice polygamy. Some of a small sec still do. It is very difficult to stop because the communities they dwell in are very remote and heavily if not solely populated by the sec including the law enforcement.

Also in the past arrests were made and crying women and children where paraded on TV creating public sympathy.

Finally there are ways to get around the law by "legally" marrying one wife but "spiritually" marrying others as well.

WE STOPPED. A LONG TIME AGO. The FLDS Mormons still practice polygamy. Not the LDS Mormons. There is a huge difference. I'm an LDS Mormon. Not FLDS.

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints don't practice polygamy. If anyone in that church is caught trying to marry another wife and they don't repent, they are excommunicated. Some people claim to be Mormon and have more than one wife but they aren't.

This is another common misconception about the LDS Church which spreads like wildfire.

I guess you missed the part over 100 years ago WHEN WE STOPPED! The people you are thinking of is the FLDS church which is not in any way shape or form associated with the LDS church. Anyone in our church who is practicing polygamy is excommunicated. You should do some reserch before posting stupid questions like that.

Like Heloooooo, we DO NOT practice poligamy, If you want your name to be kicked out of the LDS church without asking for it, you just need to be a poligamist. Now, if you are talking about the FLDS church (which is not related to the Mormon/LDS church) that's another thing.

Why does it matter? If you are asking from a secular sense, What about seperation of church and state? Why impose your beliefs on some one else because they believe differently from you. Really I believe it is wrong but.....If the guy needs more than one pain in the neck, go for it, he is a glutton for punishment(laughing)!

It's a religion that gives a man the chance to be the head of his household or several households as the case may be, father to legion, shag several and call them "wives" and have it be sanctioned by his church.

It's the religion for men who can't be monogamous. Fairly simple. Why won't the gov't stop it? Because there's money there. They've stopped Warren Jeffs but there are still plenty of others out there who continue to keep it up (so to speak).
