Partly true. It is certainly easier to change your idea of sin than to give up sin.
However, homosexuality, while celebrated by the people of this world, remains quite rare (perhaps 2-3% of the population), and polygamy is almost nonexistent in the US. I have no reason to believe atheists are any better represented in homosexual and polygamous populations than in the general population.
Still, atheists are easy prey to temptation because they are faithless. They are not mere agnostics with doubts, but sneering, jeering haters, brimming with contempt for people of faith. Atheists are anything but the cool, rational, tolerant sorts they imagine themselves to be. If you doubt this, you are new to R & S.

That's a pinheaded statement and further evidence that YOU guys think you're all better than everybody else!
I follow the laws of the land. I NEVER drink and then drive. I hold the doors for moms with strollers and I get up and give my seat to seniors and pregnant women.
I never cheat on my taxes, I love animals and I'm kind to little kids. I stop arguing if a debate is going nowhere, I say thank you to the driver when getting off the the streetcar and I wave at police officers driving by.
I'm straight as a line, I don't have several husbands and I only got divorced because HE ran off with another woman. I give a ton of cool things to the church down the street for their rummage sales, I buy Girl Guide cookies and I ALWAYS buy several poppies a day during the week leading up to Remembrance/Memorial Day.
Can all of you say you do these things too? Even the part about the taxes?
Well, I'm agnostic. When you diss the atheists I feel like you're dissing me too. Back off if you haven't got a clue what you're talking about.

You've evidently been listening to people who have filled your head with a lot of nonsense, dear.
Morality is a social construct and has relatively little to do with religion. You will find, if you examine comparative cultures, that there is a similarity among each of them regarding how people should behave toward one another, whatever religion, or lack of same the culture may embrace.
The notion that atheists are depraved is one that is not borne out by the facts. I suspect that there are people, perhaps fearful of atheism, who fabricate this sort of nonsense and pass it along in an effort to persuade others not to "think outside the box" as the current cliche has it.
Get to know an atheist or two, meet a few agnostics. You'll be surprised how much they are just like you.

No, that's just fallacious reasoning. Most atheists believe that way because religion just didn't make sense to them, and neither did belief in any kind of higher power. It has nothing to do with wanting to "get away" with things that Christians aren't allowed to do. If that were the case, there are tons of Christians who are homosexual and polygamous. There would be no reason to change their beliefs. Atheists are no more or less moral than anyone else. They just don't have religion as the foundation of their morality.

No, I prefer to be an atheist so I can get away from closeminded intolerant people like you. Oh, and because I don't see any proof of God.
I have to say, when it comes to "sin" every atheist I know has led a far more moral life than any Christian I have ever known. See, we actually have to take personal responsibility for what we do. We can't use the excuse that we can just be forgiven for it.
And just what would you consider worse:
The gay man,
or
the man that perpetuates hateful acts against him in the name of christ?

Um, most homosexuals I know are practicing Christians. Furthermore, Mormons are Christian and practice polygamy. I believe you need to get your facts straight.
I know Atheists that are the kindest, most compassionate, most generous people you will ever meet. I also know Christians who are the most intolerant, cruel, and downright HATEFUL people you will ever meet.
I've never met a truly hateful or intolerant Atheist. They have a "who cares?" kind of attitude--they'll bite back if you shove beliefs down their throat, but that's all. Otherwise, they don't care because it doesn't matter to them.
While there are Christians out there who truly emulate Jesus and what he preached, they are the minority--I've met more hipocrites. Whereas Atheists live and let live, some Christians are just bigots. They feel their beliefs justify hatred and anger.
Personally, I'd prefer to spend time with an atheist than a fundie.

Most atheists (include agnostics as I consider myself) have arrived at that philosophy after much thought. Atheism is the rejection of the idea of a deity and has no relation to "sinning" which is a theistic concept. Do you believe in god from fear of sinning? If so, is that a valid rationale for your faith?

The concept of a sin is nonexistent in my life. I believe in right or wrong. I'm an atheist because I choose to use my brain.

No, no, no. That's a lie told by fundamentalist Christians to demonize atheists. Atheists are people just like you; we just don't see any evidence for believing in supernatural beings.

I'm an Atheist. I'm also 100% straight and can't even seem to get relationships with one woman to work out. I don't think I'm ready for polygamy.
Seriously though, my Atheism isn't based on morality. It's based on logic.
No observable evidence for God = No God, until something proves otherwise.
