According to Christianity; Satan is the "Prince of Lies." It is said that he will appear to you under the guise of an angel of light to deceive you. Now, think carefully before you answer this: Are you sure that the Bible is not a work of Satan, containing just enough good to fool you, but also containing blasphemous ideas which are not of God? How can you know for sure?

Mikey: Very true. However if you can't know for sure, then why trust it?

crazy_ivan1986: 1) This is of course assuming that Jesus is in fact the son of God. What if Jesus was truly sent by Satan in order to fool people into believing things contrary to the true god's beliefs?
2) This could quite possibly be a trick, set up by Satan in order to lure Christians into a false sense of security. If humans can do it, why couldn't the "Prince of Lies?" He's called that for a reason you know.
3) He would be presenting a God that in fact followed practices that the true god did not disagree with, therefore it would be important to classify that god as holy.
Interesting points however.

righton: Be specific. What areas has the Bible proven to be true? Note that Geography means nothing in regards to the accuracy of the other parts of the Bible.

You answered your own question in the first sentence...if Satan is the "Prince of lies", then the bible would contain evil instead of good. Yes, Satan can make something look good when it is really bad, but he can't alter the ultimate outcome.
I have no doubt that Satan can speak to a person as they are reading the bible and cause them to develop a blasphemous idea or commit some other sin because they believe it is good. However, as someone who spent a lot of time testing God's instructions in the bible, I finally came to see that the instructions are for my own good...that failure to follow them may lead to short-term "rewards", but those decisions will eventually cause real damage to me.
In my experience, the best way to know is to have faith that if you are seeking God, he will reveal his wisdom to you...but if you can't make that leap, then a long-term experiement with the consequences of obedience and disobedience can provide actual knowledge! I recommend the former strategy...I sure wish I had followed it for more of my life!

There's no way to truly know - if you look at the history of the book itself you're looking at the history of the Roman Empire only really back as far as Constantine and the monks who were around then who came together to discuss which books and which legends, etc. would be included in ONE "tome".....this later became the Holy Bible. Other "Gospels" now thought of as the Gnostic Gospels are now ironically considered Heresy by the church - makes me wonder why, particularly considering Historians who have studied Biblical History insist that the Gnostic Gospels and the Gospel of Thomas in particular are likely the closest we have to the ACTUAL words and teachings of Jesus - and of THOSE are considered Heresy by the church.....what exactly is the church afraid of, then? Being found out? Being caught with their Hyporcisy down? Having the TRUTH come out?! That it's not all what it says in that little black book?!
Shocker.
I'd rather think for myself....there's an old cliche that's a good one, too, that says those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it...I believe that goes for the church as well.

1) Why would Satan want to record Jesus dying for people, so they can be saved from hell?
2) Why would Satan construct a book, where he looses in the end?
3) Why would Satan present God as being holy if he wants to deceive people?

The Bible is the Word of God. Holy means pure, chaste, sanctified, and separated above other books. It is not a book of science, not a book of politics, not a books in sociology, not even a book of religion. It is wriiten that men may know what God said...
"Thus saith the LORD..."
Your follow up question is hypothetical, Satan can't write the Bible but he has his own versions, like the satanic bible and other additional perverted scriptures other religions try to incorporate.

Well, they all seem to believe that god wrote it. I'd would've liked to have seen the penmanship. Now, please, remember, all things lose something in the translation. 1st it was written in Hebrew, then translated into Greek, then translated into Latin and so forth & on & on & on till we get to German. Then Guttenburg invents movable type. And I'm sure it lost something there, too.
Get the picture?
But they will defend it with their last dying breath, look at all the Christians that died during the first century.
Best thing, I can say is, they believe everything that they read in it. You cannot change them.
So why, bother.
