When a woman goes to her husband saying "Dear, you see this very large tummy of mine, well, it's not what you think, actually a spirit came to me while I was sleeping..." the husband should be VERY suspicious.

Matthew 1:18-25. The Lord came to Joseph in a dream and explained the situation to him. The prophecy referenced in this passage is from Isaiah 7:14. Joseph, knowing that Mary's conception was of God, wished to allow the prophecy to be fulfilled, and did not consummate the marriage **until** after Jesus was born. Mary didn't need to explain anything. Joseph took it into his own hands.

The Bible shows us in Matthew 1:18-25 that Joseph was going to put her away but the angel of the LORD came to him in a dream explaining the nature of the conception and birth of Mary's baby and that he did not know her biblically until the Child was born
Surely, you can see that she did not refuse her husband, but that due to her pregnancy, they waited until the birth.

I believe their marraige was consummated, but only after the birth of Jesus, according to the explicit instruction of the angel. (Matthew 2:18-21)
The "brothers" of Jesus are mentioned by name in Scripture, as well as at least two sisters. (see Mark 6:3). Some traditions state this refers to His close relatives. I find no reason not to take the terms (brothers and sisters) literally.

The Bible doesn't go into an explanation but only says that "Joseph knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son and he called his name Jesus" Matthew 1:25
Matthew 1:20-24 explains what the angel of God revealed to Joseph ..that a virgin shall be with child and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which means God with us.

They weren't married yet. They were betrothed, which is a very serious commitment. He was going to break that off with a "quiet divorce" but the angel came and told him what was going on.
Luke 2:4-7
4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

MATTHEW 1:18-25
18 ¶ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, Lk. 1.27 before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.
20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: Lk. 1.31 for he shall save his people from their sins. Ps. 130.8
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child,
and shall bring forth a son,
and they shall call his name Imman'u-el, Is. 7.14
which being interpreted is, God with us.
24 Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
25 and knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS. Lk. 2.21

There was no explanation necessary. Joseph knew she was a consecrated virgin, and married her with the usual understanding in such cases. He would provide support and protection. She would provide companionship and domestic service. Consecrated virgins were often betrothed to much older men for these very reasons. The particular needs of both husband and wife were met, in their respective states of life, and sex was not an issue.

Mary and Joseph did not have sex until after Christ was born. After He was born though it was another story. Jesus had siblings. Saying otherwise is a fallacy that the Catholic church has spread.
