I have a calico mix female. She's about 4 years old, I believe. Absolutely crazy cat but she's my sister's baby. Well, my sis moved off to college recently and the cat has been acting more bizzare than usual. She's even peed in the middle of the living room today after I changed her box. Is this because she misses my sister? How can I get her to stop?

My sister has visited a couple times. And, I bought a few of those cat-nip mouse toys that she plays with sometimes.

To the person asking about my sister's clothes- the first week she was gone, she left some laundry on the chair and that's where the cat slept most of the time. Now she just sleeps by the door.

Cats are funny like that....all are individual in their traits.

More than likely she is aggrivated that her owner(Mother/friend) left her..She is probably depressed too and is acting out.
My sister's dog Ozzy does this when her and her husband are away for too long (according to him). So he will use the bathroom inside the house.
I think the best thing to do is give the cat time to adjust not having your sister around..Give her lots of love, affection, and attention as much as you can. Go and get her some new toys and treats....Let her know that you love her and it will be ok..
Also buy some stuff to cover up the areas where she has pee'd...Like Urine gone or other items...I would also keep an eye on her to make sure nothing is wrong with her..Like an infection and otherthings...
If she keeps doing this after awhile...and you have been giving her attention and etc...Take her to the vet and have her checked out and explain the situation...
Im pretty sure the reason why she is doing this is because she is aggrivated and depressed about your sister leaving her.
But if you are really worried about her...and if the situation becomes worse...then I would take her to the vet to get checked out as soon as possible.

She not only misses your sister but might be saying "I'm staying here and marking my territory" Has your sister visited since leaving ? A visit fromj your sister bringing her treats or something the cat likes to eat for supper might make the cat feel not so angry about her leaving , she may feel left behind like a very young child blaming thewmselves for their parents divorce
another thing to try is to make sure the box is far away from the food, noone wants to eat where they poop and piddle
she might be saying clean my box more often , or since the sister moved out she wants her box moved ?

It absolutely could be because she misses your sister. Cats have feelings too! You may want to take her to the vet to rule out any health problems. Peeing outside the box could indicate a urinary tract infection.

Sounds like she misses your sister. Give her extra attention and make sure she knows who it is that is now taking care of her needs. When she sees that it is you that feeds her and changes her litter box, she will know she has a new mom and will probably come around. She needs lots of love.

Ya its due to the separation. Just give her alot of attention and try to give her something that smells like your sis. Its funny people say cats are so independent when really they are quite dependent. She just needs lots of love and attention along with a couple a weeks and she will be ok.

It could be any number of things, but any changes in urinary habits can be a sign of a medical problem and she should be seen by a vet as soon as possible. Good luck
