Yes,it's fine. The kitten is safer in the cage then she is running the house,as there are all sorts of things kittens can get themselves into.I have done this for years, and so has my cousin and our cats have grown up normally are fine.I have a deaf cat who is nearly three and he still stays in a cage at night because he is so ornery,he gets into things and I'm afraid for his safety.People keep puppies in crates and babies in playpens for the same reason;it is NOT cruel as long as the kitten has room to move around a little, food, water ( I suggest a water bottle) a litterbox, and a toy or two .

People who are saying it is wrong,do you know that kittens will bite electrical cords, fall into toilets or aquariums, get stuck in small spaces, get tangled in the cords of blinds and find bad things to eat, etc? Also,if there's another animal in the house,a larger cat or dog,the kitten could be hurt or killed! It's much safer in a cage until it's about 4-5 months old and has better sense! Of course it's nice if the cat can have a room for itself, but not everyone has that luxury!

No. It is not OK to keep your kitten confined to a cage. You could, and only if necessary though I fail to figure why it would be, confine her to a room with a safe sleeping area, clean litter, food and water. Although this is not ideal it is better than the cage. The 'funny' running is not at all funny, the poor kitten is literally as you said yourself "going crazy." She will soon settle into a routine and find a favorite place to sleep most of the day away without any confinement. Remove any hazards and let that poor little kitten have her freedom.

Why? We've had kittens. My daughter lives in an apartment and got a stray 9 wk old. He was always loose in the apartment unless they were coming to clean filters or check smoke detectors. Then she'd lock him in the bathroom with food, water and litter box. He was fine in the apartment, except for the day that he knocked some of her breakables off a shelf when he was dashing around. I've never heard of confining a cat while at work. We'd never do it, but you may have your reasons.

This is acceptable as a short term measure while you are getting her settled in, but is not OK to continue in the long run. There is no reason why she would need to be confined; the normal way of keeping cats is to let them go about where they want in your home.

I don't think the kitten should be locked in a cage when you are at work.I think if you are worried about her getting into anything at least put her in the kitchen with her litter and some food, then gate it off. This will give her a little more freedom. She needs to be able to play and run when she wants. If you lock her in the cage when you are gone she will never learn what she can and can't do.GOOD LUCK!

No, but it's an ok precaution. You really should ask someone you can trust, to take care of the kitten, when you're absent, and keep it out of the cage, all the time. Keep it inside, too.

How would you like to spend all day in a cage/jail/prison? Why did you get a cat in the first place? Certainly not to torture him/her right? Poor cat, he/she must be wondering why you took him out of a cage at the animal shelter or pet shop to now keep him in your cage!

Don't do that, the cat will sleep all day, in his favorite spot, waiting for you to come home.

It's only normal that he goes crazy once you take him out of the cage once you're back home.

Do you get what he/she's trying to tell you?

I've never heard of keeping a kitten in a cage like that and if you work full time, this could stunt the kitten's growth. It's okay for very short periods of time but not all day like that. It could cause physical developmental problems. Your kitten is running around like crazy when you let her out because she has had lack of exercise all day. Please stop caging her all day.
