I think it is plenty safe. I just don't use seeds or fatty stuff. You should join a bird group like on Yahoo
http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/LB_List/
and you will find all kinds of recipes. Here is one:
1 package Jiffy corn muffin mix
1 egg (washed, shell crushed fine if desired)
1/3 cup natural apple juice
1 jar baby sweet potato
1/3 cup frozen peas
1/3 cup frozen corn
Mix all ingredients You can add p'nut butter if you want. Too much fat for my liking.
Spread in a 9x13 in pan
Bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes
Cut into cubes. Freezes nicely.

Seems fine. I just use very little honey and peanut butter. I wouldnt give it all the time. maybe 2-3 times a month. You should be able to freeze the "muffins" without the peanut butter and honey. You can also give your birds wheat bread. Its good for them and my birds loved it. Just dont give them white bread. Also give them fresh veggies about 3-4 times a week. If you cant give fresh buy frozen and spoon out as much as you needed. good luck with your babys.

Birdy Bread!!! Yes its good for them and you can vary the ingredients to suit your bird. You can leave out the honey and use apple sauce if you want. I leave the seed out and put in pellets. Chopped veggies, baby food.
you can check out the recipe section at www.birdsnways.com
Depending on what your putting in its fine to feed a few times a week. You can cut into serving size squares and freeze individually. Just take out what you want to serve the night before and pop it into the microwave for about 5-10 seconds to warm up and take the chill off. Thats how my guys prefer it.

Sure . That is a great recipe for a treat to be given occasionally.
For a treat that can be given everyday, try lukewarm vegetable soup ! My Quaker loves it ! Corn, peas, green beans, carrots, tomatoes and potatoes in a nice broth!
This is considered "Comfort food", and has even been known to help calm a stressed bird. It reminds them of those nice warm veggies that were regurgitated to them by Mommy when they were small. Yummy!!!
Just be sure not to heat it too much, to avoid burning their crops.
Happy cooking !

This should be considered "dessert" or candy. It's not for every day.
Maybe once in a while.
Go easy on the peanut butter and honey.
