Not true, you've been misinformed.
There is no compulsory requirement for those who've died of cancerous diseases to be cremated here in Australia.
Ring the Federal Health Department down here, check your phone book wherever you are, get the number, dial and ask. It's really that easy to find the truth.
Mind you, cremation saves on space in cemeteries and can help the environment, even improve the soil if you choose to scatter ashes.
Putting them in an urn on the mantlepiece and it's just one more thing that needs to be dusted.

I'd research that. It makes no sense. Cancer is not contagious when a person is alive, much less dead. The body poses no more of a threat than any other type of death. I can't see that law being true. People may chose to be cremated though. Many religons actually forbid it, so I think this is even more false...

Looked all over on line and a few australian legal and funeral websites and not one mentions what you say.

In the United States it is not that way (both of my parents died from complications from cancer and neither was cremated). After a brief search through google I agree with the Australian above me that it is not compulsory for you either.

Cancer is not contagious. Cremation is a choice, not a dictum--unless you live in India and then cremation is part of the Hindu people 's burial practices.

Hey, I was watching Flip Wilson's bio and they said that he had to be cremated do to the type of cancer he had and I thought that was very strange. It was true though.

I live in Victoria, Australia and have known numerous people who have died from cancer and have been buried rather than cremated.
