And if that was just for the Corinthian woman in his letter then 1 Corinthians itself really has no meaning. That was just for the Corinthians. You cant pick and chose...or can you?

What? What do you mean cover our heads? i never have and neither does anyone that I know at any of the churches around here...even the ones that aren't christian. It just sounds so bizzare. The bible also sates that women should have an authority in church. But if you read the meaning it states that Paul was talking about the ephesian women...not all women in general. I think that if people are going to talk about something in the bible then they should know it's full meaning. Everything I read in my bible has foot notes stating what the verse actually means. So some people take things way out of context. Also, some people get so rapped up in the rules and traditions and don't focus on their relationship with jesus because they are too worried they are going to break a rule. Christianity isn't about rules and traditions its about having a personal relationship with jesus Christ

I cover my head at church with a mantilla. It's a sign of humility and modesty. Most Catholic women did so until the 1960s. Some Eastern rite Christians still do.
The idea is that women should be kind enough to cover themselves so the men don't get all distracted away from God.
However many women also do it to show their belief in traditional spirituality.

Bear with me a bit because this might be a bit long winded. You have to study history for some of these answers. In Corinth at that time prostitutes had shaved heads. It identified them as prostitutes. Christian women were to have hair and if they did not have hair they were to be covered. They were to be covered so that they would not be mistaken for prostitutes. If you read a bit further down you see that it says a woman's hair is given to her for a covering. A woman's hair is what covers her in church. I hope this clears this up for you.

1Corinthians 11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.

Because the original reason is no longer valid.
Women have decided that Western men had ample time to mature spiritually and can be trusted to behave . In some parts of the world including South America women still cover their heads in church.

You see in Corinth, "the matter of wearing hats or head coverings, although seemingly insignificant, had become a big problem because two cultural backgrounds were colliding. Jewish women always covered their heads in worship. for a woman to uncover her head in public was a sign of loose morals. On the other hand, Greek women may have been used to worshiping without head coverings....Paul told the women who were not wearing head coverings to wear them, NOT BECAUSE IT WAS A SCRIPTURAL COMMAND, BUT BECAUSE IT KEPT THE CONGREGATION FROM DIVIDING OVER A PETTY ISSUE THAT SERVED ONLY TO TAKE PEOPLE'S MINDS OFF CHRIST."

In our day and age I certainly wouldn't expect to see our pastor's wife dressed like a woman of the street. (Not to say they are not welcome in our church because they are, but a pastor's wife shouldn't dress that way. It would cause people's minds to be taken off Christ. So, it is very much still relevant and we are not picking and choosing we are applying what was being taught to our day and age.

Hope this is helpful

Considering all the contradictions in virtually every holy book. If their followers did not "pick and choose" they would have to develop multiple personalities. But that's another story

Good grief, if women didn't wear bonnets, Burns couldn't have written about counting the lice crawling in and out from under women's hats during a boring sermon.

What period in time was this written? What purpose was it for these women to wear head covers? Has anything changed since this time? Are you taking everything you read literally?
Do you believe that is a wise thing to do??
