She has been moving around a lot more lately ..... and has been waking up crying during the night.... her feet and arms are always sticking out of the slats in the crip..... should I put the bumpers back on? I am afraid she will use the bumper as a step to try and climb out she is tall and loves to climb...

Wow thank you for your answers! I really do appriciate you taking the time to write. Some of you truely disgust me with your rudeness! Whats the point of even answering if you are going to degrade someone?

I've been raising children for 36 years- my own 3, 3 grandkids, as a daycare provider and now a nanny. I have yet to meet a young child who doesn't move every which way for the first few years! It's perfectly normal. Most kids under the age of 5 end up with their head where their feet should be, or hanging 1/2 off the bed!!! When you DO switch to a big bed- twin, double, whatever- be sure you get a rail. Walmart has the mesh ones for about $10. Put one side of the bed against a wall, use one rail and you're set to go. Then all you have to do is get him to stay IN bed!!! Let her try to put herself back to sleep if she wakes up- if she doesn't in short amount of time, go in but don't talk at all- just pat her back for a few seconds and leave. In a few days, she should be sleeping through again. Good luck- and relax and enjoy!!

Is she too hot? Make sure she is not overdressed especially with the added blanket this time of year.
Is her bed comfortable? Check her matress. Those matresses can be awful hard with the plastic coating sealed around it. They look great but the babies don't weigh enough in ratio to the materials they use to waterproof them.
Does she act that same way if she is NOT sleeping in her bed? If she falls asleep on the sofa, does she start moving there too?
Generally a baby will move about in their sleep due to restlessness, too warm or too cold, and uncomfortableness.
It is common for babies to move about which is why you'll want to keep those bumperpads in place and DONT tuck her in.
When she gets a bit older you'll see a change.

15 months is too young for a bed. Don't stress about her moving around unless she's waking up crying or something. You can't do anything about it.
When she's a bit older (at least 2 1/2 if not 3) put her into a bed with a rail. At 15 months she will not understand she's supposed to stay in the bed and you will be setting yourself up for more trouble.

Just let her sleep! If she is getting all tangled up, put her in some warm footie pajamas and don't even give her a blanket. She'll be warm enough.

You can get a toddler bed with rails, or just put a futon mattress on the floor so if she rolls off, it won't hurt. My friend did that!

It doesn't matter how much she moves around! But I feel sorry for her future husband... poor guy is gonna get kicked outta bed!

I've heard, as a general rule of thumb, move them to a toddler bed when they start climbing out of the crib.

Nah, there's not much you can do to keep her from moving around. Just let her. I know I wouldn't like to try to sleep restrained. =) They say crib bumpers are a SIDS risk...but, yeah, if she's waking up crying from having her limbs stuck in them, I would put them up. She might try to use them as a step, but I don't think at this age she's going to be able to climb completely out.

Duct tape....

She's 15 mo's? Why can't she move when she sleeps? My kid is 4 and he twists and turns and is all over the bed all night but still manages to stay on. My neice is 8 and she's hanging halfway off the bed every night. Buy a toddler bed so she's not so far off the floor or put a guardrail thing (found in the kids section at walmart or target) along the side so she doesn't fall out. She's a kid - she's going to move. She'll learn if she falls out - it won't hurt her.

My five year old travels in her sleep! She is in a twin bed now and has been for the last few years. I tuck her in at bedtime. A couple hours later, I will check on her and she'll be upside-down with her head by the footboard or sometimes sideways with her head hanging off the bed. It's pretty comical & she loves hearing the stories. So far she's never fallen out.

Good luck!

My boys move around all over the place too. The best thing I found to keep them from getting cold is the sleep sack. I got the biggest size I could which I think goes up to 24 mos and its the only way to keep one of my boys sleeping through the night. I have seen some for toddlers and I am going to keep buying them until he doesn't need it any more.

She should not be moved to a bed until 18 months at the earliest - I'd wait longer.
My son did the same, and fell out of bed so much sometimes he didn't even wake up!

Just leave her be. 15 months is too early anyway to move into a toddler bed. All toddlers and babies especially move around a lot to get comfy when they sleep. Dont you move when you sleep? Sure you dont get yourself wrapped up like a burrito maybe or flip yourself around... But babies/toddlers have a ton of energy and if they cant get to sleep or are having some trouble sleeping they will toss and turn and move around to get comfortable. It's a totally normal thing. Have you tried waiting a longer period of time before checking on her. Perhaps you are keeping her semi-awake when you goto check on her. I now wait at least 2 hours before checking on my son before I myself head to bed. When I checked on him when he hadnt been sleeping for long he would start up tossing and turning again.
