I had 2 cups of orange juice, a small essential c+ calcium vitamin water, plus a large power c vitamin water with taurine in it and a couple of kid's regular vitamins with vitamin c in them. I heard that if you put enough viatmin c in your system it will knock the cold out of you. If this isn't true it would be helpful if you also told me what will knock the cold out of me
( hopefully in a couple of days). Thanks.

A cold is caused by a virus.

Once it is in your system, you have to wait for your body to fight it.

Rest, fluids and healthy eating will assist your body, but in the meantime there are medicines you can take to relieve the symptoms.

Vitamin C at the recommended dose can help your immune system if your diet is inadequate.

Overdosing on vitamin c is a waste of money and has no proven benefit.

In the short term your body will excrete it in urine and loose bowel motions.

Continual long term overuse can cause major health problems.

Too much "c" will give you no end of trouble. Those who think that if a little vitamin C is good, more must be better should think again, says a team of British researchers, who found that a supplement of 500 milligrams a day could damage people's genes. Many Americans take that much, or more, in hopes of preventing colds and reaping the widely celebrated antioxidant benefits of vitamin C.
kidney stones
reduced Vitamin B-12 and copper status
increased oxygen demand
becoming a pro-oxidant (a substance thought to promote cancer, heart disease, and stroke, the opposite of an antioxidant).
Stop it.

Vitamin C can help to strengthen your immunes system, but will not help to get rid of a cold once you already have one. You won't overdose on Vitamin C - it takes an unfathomable amount of it to do you fatal harm.
But take it faithfully and it may reduce your risk of colds in the future!
A cold will run its natural course, there is nothing you can do to actually get rid of it. You can only ease the symptoms with cold meds.

well it is a good idea to be consuming a lot of vitamin c while you are sick, however, you can "OD" on vitamin C. particularly if you are consuming alot of fruits like oranges, of you consume a large amount in a rather short amount of time you can actually make yourself sick. in fact, you can make yourself so sick that it could cause you to have acidic poisoning, you get a very upset stomach, feel horrible, and you have acidic diarea, and could actually end up in the hospital, so be careful. If you are going to be consuming a lot of vitamin c, then be sure to consume a lot of water as well. get well soon! :(
