Before anyone jumps to conclusion and says Hydrocepholus, let me explain what is going on. At my 20 week ultrasound today, the ultrasonographer told my doctor that when she scanned the brain, she said the space with fluid looked a little larger than normal, so she measured it with the ultrasound equipment and the measurment turned out to be in perfect range. My doctor said not to worry about it but that is completely impossible for me. She said it looks larger all the time on ultrasounds and turns out to be nothing. My question is has anyone ever had their doc say this to them and it turns out to be nothing? I don't want false hope, but I don't want to worry myself into preterm labor. Any feedback is appreciated.

OK, so my situation was different, but similar. Using measurements from our ultrasounds (MULTIPLE ultrasounds!) they kept saying my son's upper arm and upper leg bone were really short and that he'd probably have either down syndrome or some sort of dwarfism. I was worried sick and he's now almost 4 years old and perfectly normal. As soon as he came out, we knew he was perfect and that the ultrasound was WAY off!
So don't worry yourself into labor because those high-tech ultrasound machines, while really handy, not so accurate all of the time.
Hang in there.

When I was pregnant for my son I left the doctors office crying for the first 3 to 4 visits.
One of them was because of an ultrasound. The told me that his head measurements weren't right there might be something wrong. I had to go back and see a speciality untrasound doctor. The specialist only comes once a month so I had to wait for an entire month, worried out of my mind. When the person who take the first untrasound she took it of the baby facing sideways so the measurements are smaller then they would have been otherwise.
However at this time the doctor made me stay in the office and take for another hour, he would have kept me there all day if I had a morning appointment, because he couldn't see the bladder fluids. He wanted me to schedule another appointment to make sure there wasn't a problem.
At the time I had read about too many ultrasounds not being good for the baby.
I didn't go back. Needless to say I had a health baby with no bladder problems.
By the way my doctor didn't tell me not to worry.

When I was pregnant with my son the doctor told me that on the ultrasound I think it was one of the tubes leading up to the kidneys was a little larger than normal. He told me that it could be an indication of down syndrome. He suggested that I go in for an amnio. I agreed but in the mean time they signed me up for genetics counseling. They made me and my husband sit down and watch a movie about children with down syndrome. I was in tears because I was so worried. they finally did the ultrasound and everything came back fine. My son is now 3yrs old and perfectly healthy. . It was an awful experience and I was so scared even after I found out that he was ok. What if they missed something or the results came back wrong. I guess the fear never really went away till the moment I held him in my arms. I don't blame you for being nervous or scared. It is very natural for you to feel that way. Try to stay optimistic I wish you the best of luck!

When i had my blood checked while i was pregnant it came back that some levels where extremely high which they told me could be due to down syndrom. When they did the ultrasound everything seemed to confirm what they had thought down syndrome. I was out of my mind scared. Finally I agreed to let them do the amnio and everything came back fine. Now my daughter is a very healthy 2 year old. So try not to worry your baby is probably fine. I don't think your doctor would give you false hope. I hope everything turns out wonderful for you.

Women give birth to babies all of the time. Ultrasound techs have to report everything they see, it doesnt necessarily mean anything. You are probably just over-reacting
