OK, first, read about the lives of famous occultists:

http://usminc.org/famous.html

Then decide if it's worth persuing. If you want to wind up broke and forgotten, go for it!

If there is any truth to the old saying "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach.", that truth is found in the occult, and Wicca in particular. Silver Ravenwolf has written close to a dozen books on the subject of "The Craft", and claims she has been studying it since about 1969, which is almost as long as I’ve been alive. She has written a book on how to cast money spells, and includes a chapter on how to do so in her Teen Witch book. But the thing is, she doesn't particularly sound all that prosperous herself. Ravenwolf writes,

"For years I couldn't afford to go to a hair stylist (still can't, it's shop and chop for me). I got pretty good at stying my own hair from looking at magazine pictures" [SOURCE: Teen Witch, Llewellyn Publications, 2003 edition, page 145]

OK, she so rich she can't go to the hairdresser. Hey, get me a copy of that Prosperity Spell book!

Silver Ravenwolf seems to have inadvertently discovered that Wicca makes things worse, but won't ever admit it as such.
In Teen Witch she says

"A lot of people tell me how bad their lives have gotten after casting a spell and tell me they won't do Witchcraft anymore. I tell them their lives would have been much worse for not having cast the spell".

Gee Silver, you would think a lot of people would be saying things like "Hey, Silver Ravenwolf, my life has improved tremendously with Wicca!" if Wicca is as great as they claim. Instead it makes lives much worse, and even Silver Ravenwolf admits she hears this a lot!!!

Why? Because sometimes, things are just as you think they are. Most average people will tell you the occult deals with black magic and demons, and demons are evil beings who wish us harm. This is how it is my friend. The occult is evil, and brings bad happenings into a person's life, and Wicca is an occult religion. When you stop trying to rationalize it with inaccurate data and just use common sense you will realize this. Some occultists are of above average intelligence, and I think part of the problem is they have book smarts but not common sense. There are two forces at work in this universe: the counterfeit and the genuine. Wicca’s source of power is not the genuine. There’s just simply no way Wicca (and thus the copycat Neopagan religions) can be created from the black magic writings of “The Great Beast 666", the bizarre sexual practices of Gardner, the spiritual “guidance” of the Watchers (fallen angels) and still be a source of good!

None of the people who will answer your question can make it work either, Don't delude yourself. It's an incredible waste of time and money, and it's spiritual poison.

It frightens me to think that someone would actually use Ravenwolf as an example of a witch! As has been said, Magick is about SELF empowerment. It DOES NOT work like you see in Harry Potter or Charmed. I just don't get it. Where do these people come from who think ANYONE has that kind of power? Why do people insist that we prove spells can work, can a Christian PROVE that a prayer works? Same thing. A spell is a focused prayer with a little intent behind it and the caster willing to actually do something physically to make the spell work. We do not depend on some supernatural forces to do it for us. We work with nature to produce results. Note I said work with, we don't expect things to just "magickally" happen on their own.

now know, the craft is meant to empower one's self, and to benefit in times of need. casting spells is so just a cliche way of looking at it. to be powerful is not the point of magick, but simply an aspect of personality that practicing magick brings. magick can truly be useful and it can truly hinder, all things hide a blessing and a curse within them. its not a toy but a tool. I send you the brightest blessings on your path, and may you find that which you need. I hope I have answered your question in a satisfactory and enlightening manner.

Aleister Crowley defined magick as "the Art and Science of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will." In Magick in Theory and Practice he goes on to elaborate on this in one postulate and twenty eight theorems, in which he states "ANY required change may be effected by the application of the proper kind and degree of Force in the proper manner, through the proper medium to the proper object." Crowley also provides us with some fundamental statements about the nature of magick:

"Every intentional (Willed) act is a Magical act."

"Magick is the Science of understanding oneself and one's conditions. “

"It is the Art of applying that understanding in action."

Thus, in this definition, every intentional act can be seen as magickal, and all habitual actions are not. The practice of magick equally applies to mundane things, like balancing the checkbook. It can also be seen as the general set of methods used in spiritual rituals or to accomplish mystical attainment. In every intentional act, we are focusing our will and energies into causing change or accomplishing a goal.

This is the very essence of magick. Everything else associated with magick, such as rituals, words, tools, and symbolism, is simply expansions on this original and basic ideal about magick. Magick is not capable of producing miracles or violating the physical laws of the universe (e.g., you cannot throw fireballs), although it is in theory possible to cause in any object any natural change that object is capable of.

Symbols are more than representation when used in magick. They take on qualities of a phenomenon or object. The use of symbolism and symbols, referred to as sympathetic magick, helps to manipulate or invoke what the symbol represents.

Magick is more about self-empowerment than power. Many people think it is all about performing fantastical feats or making oneself rich etc, but in actuality it is simply a concept used to empower the self towards a goal.

As the previous answers mentioned, please, don't play with this stuff. It is real, and spells are actually cast, and some results are pretty bad. there are groups around the country that are big into witchcraft and believe me, it is the work of the devil. You must first sell your soul to Satan, before you can participate in this activity and believe me, it is not worth it.
