It is about the 'reconstruction' and I use that word loosely, of New Orleans. Anyhoo they are in a ghetto looking part of the city, and what are they doing? Building new homes, repairing damaged ones? Noooo, they are using the remnants of two wrecked homed to rebuild, not another home, but a bloody church. What is wrong with these people? They have no homes but golly gee they can go and pray. Like that did any good before the hurricane. Your thoughts?

So some of you seriously think that a building with no purpose at all, is better to build for people who are living in tents, than to build them a house, or repair the damaged ones.

I live in a hurricane zone, and I can tell what we wanted here in Key West, and it was not bloody churches.

I don't think there's anything wrong with providing them a sense of hope. I'm from Louisiana, was born there, lived the last 11 years of my adult life there until a year ago. People take their Faith in Jesus seriously there - just like they do their partying during Mardi Gras. It's just a deep seated part of the atmosphere. Missed by most who only visit for the French Quarter partying or who live there a short amount of time. Religion and superstitions too, are a HUGE part of the heart of New Orleans. It makes sense that they are building a church. They likely want and need a place to demonstrate and practice their faith.

Since I was NOT there for the Hurricane,
I have NO idea what these people are in
need of...but if building that Church helps
them get through their day, WHY NOT..??!!
I cannot even imagine what those people went through, and fare be it from me to condemn them for building a Church.!!

its called Faith....and how do you know their prayers didn't do any good. for all you knew they could have prayed for their lives to be saved. your life is more precious than your belongings. you can get your possesions back. it didn't show weakness, it showed people who are very strong.
