Okay, you COULD have lice if your hair brushed against her hair. They don't fly or jump, so they would have had to crawl quickly from her hair to yours. It's possible, but probably not likely. Have someone look at your scalp closely (either go to the health dept or have a school nurse do it if there's nobody at home you trust to look closely) and see if they can find any small brown bugs crawling. They'll be right on your scalp, not in your hair, since they like to get right up there and start feasting on your blood. Yuck, huh?

By the way, lice clutch with their legs, and have a tight grip. You cannot wash them off with shampoo and water. You have to PICK them off and kill them.

Yes, it is possible to get lice this way. unlikely, though. No need to freak out actually lice love a nice, clean scalp. Most people believe that lice infestation occur due to a lack of cleanliness, this is untrue. They are a nuisance but when you work in the medical field particularly with children, you learn not to be so put off by such things. Hope you didn't contract the little bugs. also, it can be very difficult to get rid of them. They can live on clothing, furniture, in the car, etc. It is best to thoroughly clean basically everything. Shampoo carpet, and wash bedding in hot water. You need to clean the mattress, too. That is if you do have lice.

no, unless ur head was physicaly in contact with stuff she used eg; if u shared the same bed, pillow ,brushed your hair with her comb or touched ur head against hers.... etc
if u still have a doubt ask someone to check for you.
1-stand in direct sunlight and ask the person to part and layer your hair from different angles and scan every strand of your hair..... usually the lice lays eggs that can be seen stuck on each strand of hair they are very tiny and yellowish/brownish in colour..
2- u can also get ur self a special lice comb which is so fine that it traps the lice between the teeth of the comb.

i doubt u would have lice but if you do their are very effective shampoos in the drug store that can help... Para is one of them.

Yes you sure could......but if you do DO NOT use the store bought Rid it will damage your hair plus its just not good for you.
My grand kids got it from school and I tried several home remedies that really do work.
1. A 50/50 mixture of mineral oil and white vinegar, mix it together and pour it on her head and rub it in. Put a plastic bag over your hair and let it stand for 1 hours. Wash with Dawn dish liquid ( it gets the oil out) first then shampoo and use hair conditioner then use a lice comb. Hard work but it really works.
2. Use mayo, rub it in and leave for a hour and shampoo the same as above.
3. Denorex shampoo for dandruff, the stuff in it kills the lice. Doesn't smell to good but you can always shampoo and condition as usual.

Yes, you could, but just patting her head and a kiss probably wouldn't do it. Sitting on the same sofa, her hair brusing against your hair or clothes. These would be more likely ways for you to get them. I wouldn't worry too much unless you start itching, but I'd have myself checked just to be sure. You can stop by your local Health Department and they will check your hair for you.

You could most definitely have lice. Treat your head now before it becomes a problem.

I'm no doctor but,

I think that the chances of you getting lice from patting and kissing them are very slim.

Lice live in hair so a slight pat and kiss probably shouldn't be a problem.

Also if you showered soon after you probably washed them away.
