Thanks for all your answers. I couldn`t have my dog spayed because of heart problems. My Chihuahua is 7 yrs. old and I wanted to get an apartment in low-income place. The lady told me my dog had to be spayed and I was hoping she was "too old". Well,I didn`t get the apartment-will look for another place but it`s very hard when most places say NO PETS.

There is no certain age that a dog hits and she can no longer have puppies. Some dogs are able to become pregnant until they die, while others may reach a point where they are no longer fertile.
If a dog is used for breeding, it's usually a good idea to stop breeding her when she is about 6 years old. After that, the births become riskier and, supposedly, the quality/health of the puppies that she produces may not be as good.

Dogs don't menopause or anything unless spayed.

Generally, their births and pregnancies become more complicated after the age of 6 or 7, it can depend on a dog.

Usually a breeder will spay them at that age.

Most show breeders stop breeding a ***** after 3-4 litters or after she turns 6 or 7. I know of some that have had pups at age 10 without problems but it isn't a common practice to breed that old of a *****.

we once boarded a 14 y/o dog while the owners were on vacation and when they came back two weeks later they had a litter of pups to take home. They saw no sign of her cycling and were needless to say, very surprised.

A day older than it was the day before it was done?

Dogs don't go into menopause. They keep coming into heat until spayed.

spay and neuter your pets, will save a lot of puppies and kittens from dying in a shelter. just because they "CAN" have puppies doesn't mean they should!

Eventually, a dog will get old enough that it will stop ovulating and not be able to get pregnant. Many old dogs DO stop coming into heat also. Usually they get a pyo LONG before that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
