Obviously, I KNOW the I.V. is a needle and oral is a pill, but what is the difference as far as effect? I have had IV sedation before and I was totally out. I will be getting oral medication next week. I am concerned I will feel/remember everything!! Anyone have input? Thanks!!

Well from what I have heard...You are awake with sedation, but you are "sedated" you wont remember hardly anything about it, but you will be responsive, I have considered this, I have a deep fear of dentists. I go next week to get my Wisdoms out plus 2 more, and I am getting the IV where I am out cold.

Good luck!!

Always have your wisdom teeth removed by a specialist oral & Maxillofacial surgeon. To find out about impacted teeth, prophylactic wisdom tooth surgery, general tooth extraction (including adjacent tooth shifts), types of anesthesia, and dental implants in Australia, go to http://www.oceansurgical.com.au/

is this for surgery? many times the doc will order a mild oral sedative before going into surgery to relax you. once in the or, you are given the iv.
i forgot- it's pretty much the same with either kind. i've had both. memory kind of comes and goes.

iv they usually give you what is known as versed. It is a conscienous sedation. Oral they usually give valium or any other pain killer. They will put you to sleep, but not like iv will.
