in order for the command to approve him to go home for the birth, he HAS to get a red cross message when you are in labor....
im sure he could go to his moms funeral.....why not his childs birth!!??

got to agree with Mrsjb here, the chances are really slim to zero to be honest. I know as he is in A school you are new to all this military stuff but this is a good time to realise that whilst we as military wives do a GREAT job behind the scenes we are not a priority at all when it comes to the Navy's needs.
IF you do send a red cross message and he does get to come home it will be one YOUR dime not the military and any time spent at home will come out of his leave time, which whilst in A school will not be that much.
regards and good luck with the baby

The best thing you as a family can do is to ask. But be prepared with people to help you in case the answer is no. Military wives learn fast to have people there to back them up when the military member is away and being away from home for the birth of a child is a common occurrence.

What is the school? Things like A schools can be set back a week or he could make the work up on his own. Naval Nuclear Power school will probably not let him go home. Too much information, so little time.

Depends on what school he is in. Also depends on how well he does. When my husband was in school they let him come home to get married. However when I went into labor he was out on deployment overseas and they wouldn't let him stay behind. But I know a guy who got to stay home from being underway because they were state side. It all depends on the situation and the command. Good luck!

not going to happen. NO leave is authorized during A school unless there is a true emergency.. such as losing the baby.
He will have the opportunity to come home for a week between Christmas and New year's, most likely (on his dime)

I was in Antarctica in February of '73 when my youngest was born. I wasn't needed at the hospital in Virigina. Men are deployed overseas when their wives give birth. Then the wife/child meet the hubby at the pier/airport/train/bus station when he finally comes home. It's called WELCOME TO MILITARY WIFE LIFE. Only in emergencies do they get to come home while deployed/in school in the middle of the deployment/school.
If he leaves school, he'll be set back to where he was when he left...longer time then before he finishes.
