Ok, so I have a 5 yr old cousin that acts like she's five years older than ME. She's always bossing me around and threatens to cry if I don't do what she says. @ minutes ago She was whining for me to go to barbie.com. I wouldn't, so she tried to rip my brand new dress, I yanked her hand away and the force sent her reeling backwards out of her chair, she didn't even fall alll the way down, but she had this huge spazz attack. How do I deal with her? She's five! I'm soo much older than her!! and she bosses me!

To call a 5 yr old child a spoiled idiotic brat shows she probably does act 5 yrs older than you because thats incredibly immature of you. Im sorry your cousin at 5 has more smarts than you, but thats no reason to name call.

Try the love and logic method. You could ignore her, or when she threatens to cry if you don't do what she says, say something along the lines of (say it sympathetically) ... "I'm sorry you want to cry, I sure hope you feel better afterwards." There are also words such as "bummer" or "that's too bad" when they are complaining or whining about something. With the dress either just remove it from her reach or if you are wearing it say something like "How are you going to pay for a new dress if you rip this one?" If you go to the love and logic website they may have a video or two that you could watch that would also give you some ideas. If you don't have time for that just remember to try to put the problem back onto her so that she is having to think rather than you. This doesn't mean get into an argument with her it just means to use words such that she is having to think of the answers or the solutions.
Hope this helps and good luck.

She's five, what you gotta do is pretty much play mind games with her. For example, show her that she's not irritating you in any way, by just ignoring her. If she goes for something of yours, go for something of hers that she really likes. What I think is that she knows that you get annoyed by what she does and she's just enjoying that. If you can just get out of the house. On the other hand she could just be trying to get your attention and maybe wants you to play with her. Maybe she's not getting any attention from her parents. Try doing something with her, like play some kind of game or go outside and do something with her. If that doesn't work then tell her parents or ignore her and lock your door. I wish you the best of luck...

How old are you???
I have a 6 year old neice and she does the same thing. Are you a teenager? Because younger kids sense that you still are a kid, and think they can play, and treat you like they do, others their own age.
Just make sure you show that you are older, and you won't deal with her doing it. Tell her parents, that usually makes it stop.

Make boundaries. My time-your time. Use a timer if you have to.
"In five minutes after I send this email we can look at Barbie. Until then why don't you go watch Noggin for a couple minutes? You can come back when the timer goes off."

Wow, sounds like fun. What about the parents. Try talking to them and tell them what she says. Even record her threatening you if the parents don't believe you. Good luck

Where's her parents? Do they ever discipline her? You need to tell someone her behavior is unacceptable. If no one will do anything then try to stay away from her if possible.
