WHy are the loudest moralists always the biggest hypocrites?

Question

Larry Craig railed against homosexuality and gay marriage and publicly berated Clinton for that woman, Monica Lewinsky.

Sound just like Ted Haggard, doesn't it?

I don't know if the loudest moralists are the biggest hypocrites. All I know is that IF they are hypocrites, they are the loudest hypocrites.

But a moralist is not always a hypocrite, loud or not. I don't consider Martin Luther King Jr., Ghandi, or Mother Theresa hypocrites.

Loud hypocrites are the easiest for me to identify, and therefore deal with. I'm worried about the big hypocrites ("moralist" or otherwise) that are not loud.

no one is perfect. Ted Haggard is a man just like you and I'm sure his mind gets filled with lust just like any other man. have you ever noticed some of the good things he's done for the community..or did you just watch the news and then came down with the conclusion that he is a hypocrite?

Usually because it takes a great deal of noise to drown out the insinuating whispers going on in the minds of such people.

You know, I don't think that what you asked is a very good question. I think that you can just make it a better statement. That's what I've come to know:

"The loudest is often the worst."

it was also a problem in Jesus' time (Jesus would rail against the hypocritical religious leaders of his day)

Usually because they want to take the attention off of their own indiscretions.

You don't have to be loud to make others notice your life. By example you can lead them and mainly the Holy Spirit will direct them. Prayer can work wonders.
