NO NO and NO again. If you have one bird, then keep it that way. You have no clue what getting another bird entails. Don't make the mistake that others are making!!!
If your bird is happy keep it that way. You will not be able to handle either bird and then what's the point of having either bird???
Just don't do it!!!

There is nothing wrong with having 2 budgies as long as you look into everything like, the risk of them not getting along so you should alawys have a spare cage handy just in case.
YES you can have 2 tame budgies but it takes a lot more hard work on your part to tame them & keep them tame. Since you already have a budgie, is it tame? If so then getting another budgie & taming up will be no different to the first. You need to keep working at keeping them tame all the time. If you have the time it wouldn't be a problem.
You need to consider if they don't like each other, you will have to be with them on seperate occasions.
If you decide on 2 you should keep the new one in a seperate cage, tame it & then slowly introduce it to your present one.
Anotehr alternative to having company for your budgie is to push 2 cages together. This way there is the company they need & no fighting or getting in each others way.
How old is your current budgie? It may be used to being on it's own & get a little ticked off with having an intruder in the house.
If the budgies get along famously you will require a large cage for them as even the best of friends can get in each others ways if they don't have their own personal space. This can cause pecking & feather picking.
If your budgie isn't tame it is more likely they may bond to one another & it's near impossible to tame them once this has happened.
If your budgie seems happy, you shouldn't need to get another budgie. They do very well with just the interaction from their humans.

Get one bird and train it then get a second bird. This way the birds will bond to you. If you get two at the same time, it will be more difficult to train them.
On the other hand, if having a close relationship with your bird is not that important to you or if you don't have a lot of time to spend with your pet, then getting two would be a good idea. It really depends on what type relationship you want with your bird.

If you get another then you have to cage it seperately if it bonded with you. Birds are social true, but that's what makes their bonds to us so strong. They see us as their flock mate adn this can result in great bonds. The minute you put another bird in his cage you will lose that bond. They'll say Oh well now I have a bird to preen my head feathers and play with me, I don't need you. Sometimes depending on the genders it cna make them agressive towards humans. If you get another bird that's hand fed then cage them seperately but allow them play time together. That way they can have a bond with each other and keep each other company but you won't loose too much of the bond you have.

Dont get another bird unless YOU want the bird. Do NOT get your bird a companion if your friends with him then you may lose that if you get another bird.
if you do get another bird cage him seperately to help avoid this.
We become our birds flock, they dont need other feathered company. We have 3 birds here and they dont like each other. That is another possiblity. They all have to have seperate out times or we run the risk of fights and someone getting hurt.

They are social animals. They need a friend/lover just like humans do. It'll be much more happier as a pair.
Male = blue nose
Female = brown nose

your bird will be fine with just you and will actually be alot better when it comes to him learning to talk and playing with you. if you get another bird-he will stop having anything to do with you at all because he will have another bird to play with. having a pair is nice if you arent going to be able to give your keet as much time as you would like, then he would probably enjoy a friend. if you like being able to hold him on your finger and want to teach him to talk- just keep the one but give him lots of attention.

i have a rainbow lorikeet that was handraised. He has since moved oustide into a large cage but still has contact with me. I got him a friend and he turned against me completely. I went from being his "girlfriend" to his worst enemy! I couldnt even put food and water in his cage without him trying to rip my arm off! What worse is he started to boss around his lady friend to the point of she died of stress. and this was only over a 1 month period. I feel absolutley awful that i didnt take her away from him straight away and that she died. Since then though my lorikeet is back to being my "boyfriend" and no longer bites me at all. Im not saying this will happen to your bird but i wish i had never got him a friend. I think if you spend time with them yourselves and they have lots of toys and stuff to play with that they dont need a friend.
